My friend just got mad at me, for saying Ashlee's career is over for her gaffe on SNL.

I guess she feels bad, because she is one of the few who actually brought that CD. If I lose a friend over Ashlee Simpson, I think that will be pretty funny in and of itself.

During her final SNL performance, her lip-synching tape didn't start. So when her band began playing, she just stood there silently, no vocal track to lip sync to. Then she capered like a loon. Then she walked off-stage.

...And the band played on.

A bit later, SNL absruptly cut to commercial.

Honestly, I believe most performances on SNL have the actual song in the background. I remember hearing DMX's voice in the background when he was completely out of sync on a song a few years back. Nonetheless, Ashlee's stupidity was still pretty funny.

Does anyone think this will really hurt her career? If you're unique enough to buy an Ashlee Simpson CD, you don't really care how much talent she has or whether she lip-syncs or not. Didn't we recently find out Britney Spears can't sing live? That isn't going to stop fans from buying her next CD, as long as it sounds good.

Many of these lesser talent performers lip sync most of the time. I know Spears has been doing it for years. Every year on the MTV awards you can see her doing it.

But lets get real, Ashlee has a career because of her sister.

Actually, that's not exactly what happened.

What happened is that while playing her second set, her first song played instead of the second, voice and all; except no one was playing any instruments or singing. The band proceeded to start playing while Ashlee Simpson did a stupid little jig and walked off the stage. The band continued to play with an evil smirk on each of their faces.

i think everyone should stop making fun of ashlee simpson. what's not to like about her music?

ok, so she sucks. big deal. i have to admit that i do enjoy listening to her music though(maybe not for musical quality, but i don't think you can deny that listening to it is funny. and i enjoy things that are funny, so i enjoy her music).

What the hell was that dance she did? Next time I get embarrassed in front of a lot of people, I'm going to just do that dance.

Anyways, this isn't surprising. Everyone knows she isn't very talented and only came up through her sister. She is one of those "I want to try everything" celebrities. She went from acting to music, and she isn't very good at either. Hey, it could be worse though. Paris Hilton is considerably worse at both acting and singing, and she is a very well known celebrity. She makes Ashley Simpson sound like Whitney Houston.
