chris rock can be pretty annoying sometimes...something that tracey morgan is not.
Know who is not annoying, Bill Cosby and on second thought he funnier than them all!

But the one thing that kind of got to me was the funniest black man alive comment. To say Tracy Morgan is one of the funniest people alive that is fine, but to say black man? Yes I know your "race" newmessiah10 but come on to say he could be one of the funniest black men alive? No need to categorize by "race" whatever ones definition of "race" is...

He literally might be the funniest black man in America and yes I am saying he might be funnier than Chappelle and Rock.
Actually that could be considered to be insulting Tracy Morgan. Saying you have to categorize him by just "black" comedians because he is no where close to the top of everyone involved.

I think it's a shame that Morgan gets a network show, when he's not nearly as brilliant as Dave Chappelle who's "relegated" to Comedy Central.

Chappelle's skits aren't as funny as his stand-up, but they're still edgier and funnier than Morgan skits.

I guess Morgan is considered the more family-friendly, homogenous product, while Chappelle is "too" edgy for mainstream network programming. NBC was, I believe, the network that cancelled the pretty funny Dana Carvey Show because he wasn't sponsor-friendly enough.

You aren't giving Tracy enough credit. The man is funny as hell (have you seen his commercials for the new ESPN video games?). But I do agree that Dave Chappelle is both funnier and deeper. One thing a lot of people don't understand about Chappelle is that he puts a message into a lot of his skits. He's obviously a very thoughtful man and while he's the funniest guy out there right now, he's also making some deep social statements.

See, I don't look for deep social statements in my humor personally. I think that's one of the things I like about Morgan -- unless I'm missing something, most of his stuff seems like it's just supposed to make you laugh. He doesn't want to promote this or that, isn't trying to raise awareness of a cause; he just wants to make you laugh. Then again, I don't look that deep into my humor, so maybe he does and I just don't notice it.

Chappelle doesn't hide his messages, you don't have to spend time thinking, he satires and notes the inconsistencies with society extremely amusingly...and he also does traditional comedy, with no message.

Very few stand-up comedians can actually make me laugh out loud. Most stand-up comedy is exceedingly generic. Chappelle is so spot-on, has perfect comedic timing, great expressiveness...his HBO special is one of the best comedic performances ever, in my opinion.

Once again you put your foot in your mouth. By me saying he is one of the funniest black comedians around, that means I hold in him in high regard with others of his race, contemporary and not. Like it or not there are races and the fact that I said he might be the funniest black man in America could indeed be correct because guess what he is black. Not white, not orange, but black. So the fact that I said that about him was in fact a compliment.

You really need to brush up on your reading comprehension because everytime you respond you end up saying more and more dumb things.

Like you said no one would think Tracy is funnier, yet there are people who do.

Minstrel, Chappelle might get a network show, but it will most likely be on FOX. He has slammed some of the networks before in his stand up act and on his show. I wouldn't expect him to have a sitcom anytime soon (meaning in the next year or two).

The reason Tracy got a show are twofold. One, because he is funny and he has paid his dues (by working for NBC and SNL for 7 years). Two, it is the NBC network where his sitcom will reside and Lorne Michaels is an executive producer of the show. Hmmm, the same Lorne Michaels from SNL, coincidence I think not.

That's another article from www.saturday-night-live.com which I personally enjoyed -- it's an SNL vs. The Daily show piece, more or less.

Last night I taped it. Very enjoyable.

Also those Tracy Morgan commercials with Ben Wallace, are hilarious.

"Oh dogggggg... listen here."
