Politics of Star Wars?

This one's for you Tom.

(may contain very minor spoilers, a line or two of dialogue)
link

Quote:
"As you go through history, I didn't think it was going to get quite this close. So it's just one of those recurring things," Lucas said at a Cannes news conference. "I hope this doesn't come true in our country.
Quote:
"When I wrote it, Iraq didn't exist," Lucas said, laughing.

"We were just funding
Saddam Hussein and giving him weapons of mass destruction. We didn't think of him as an enemy at that time. We were going after
Iran and using him as our surrogate, just as we were doing in Vietnam. ... The parallels between what we did in Vietnam and what we're doing in Iraq now are unbelievable."

Re: Politics of Star Wars?

I don't like how the technology is somehow way more advanced in the past

the prequels have androids that do kung-fu, and use super-powerfull energy shields. The ships are way more impressive looking, and they deploy huge droid armies off assembly lines (the jarjar binks planet battle)

the future has R2D2 and lame storm troopers lol.

Re: Politics of Star Wars?

I'm not intelligent enough to care about who they are talking about. I just want some serious action and story. My politics stop at the door of Star Wars. That isn't what it is all about.

I'm seeing it 3 times on thursday so i will try to be more direct when i get out of therapy

I do have my glasses taped and ready. I put reversable tape on my pocket protector so the only thing i lose when watching this movie is my socks.

There is a reason for that, beyond movie technology improving. In the Republic, there was relative peace and abundant resources. Technology, naturally, was fairly far along at that point. In the original movies, the universe has gone through 20 years of decline without the Jedi and a peaceful Republic to keep things together.

Re: Politics of Star Wars?

There are supposively 3 stories after this, so if Lucas doesn't make them, perhaps after he die someone else finishes off the entire original story, unless they want to get into all the new starwars books that have come out in the past 6 years or so.
