comic book movies are sci-fi action. i'm a fan of the genre more than comic movies themselves. these movies have the potential to bring fantastic stories to life, that's what i love. there has been a HUGE resurgence in this genre and these movies based on the DC and marvel worlds are a big part of that. i just think it's a little prejudical to discount these movies before you know anything about them. as for sequels, the worlds of these characters usually deserve more than one (well done) movie.

the fantastic four would be great nowadays and will probably come in the next decade or so. they have tried, completing an entire movie (about 10 years ago?) but it was too bad to release. it can be obtained though i'm sure.

Was the prejudicial statement aimed at me? Look, who cares if I don't like these movies, I said there's nothing wrong with them. I haven't discounted them without knowing anything about them, I saw spiderman and personally thought it sucked. Saw Xmen, wasn't really my thing, although much better than Spiderman. And I grew up watching these shows and reading the occasional comic as well, so I know the chars and such as well. They aren't the same thing as T3, or Matrix, or Blade Runner, or other movies of that sort. You can call them sci-fi actions, and that's accurate, but they're not the same kind of sci-fi actions. You don't see the differences? I like those movies, I don't care for the superhero movies, no big deal. I'm not saying that because I think they're kiddie or that I had better taste than you, I simply stated that they weren't my kinda movies. I made it clear that it was my opinion, everybody has different opinions. Sure they can bring great stories to life, but they aren't the kind of stories I personally enjoy. There obviously has been a big resurgence, otherwise Spiderman wouldn't have set the records it did, so I must be in the minority, but there's no point in making comments like that just because I don't show interest in a certain genre. I'm sure there are types of movies you don't like and don't give a chance as well, aren't there?

other than homosexual porn i think i give all kinds of movies a chance. i guess romantic comedies aren't a big draw for me unless i hear they are exceptional. i understand your opinion but i just wanted to open it up a little. the range in potential movies from comics is huge, everything from aliens vs. predator to silver surfer to ghost rider. i have heard to the matrix referred to as the best comic book movie, despite not being based on comics. i see your point on the whole "super-hero" thing not appealing to you but you have to realize that some of these movies will be truly great films. the hulk has that kind of potential.

I guess I might've been stereotyping a little bit, when I think of comics I think of superhero's like Superman and Spiderman, there is more of a range though. I mean, wasn't The Crow based on a comic? Didn't like it that much, but it's more geared towards the kinda movie I like than those other ones. So you have a point. The Hulk doesn't interest me much, but if it's supposively awesome I'm sure I'll give it a shot.

Noted B movie hack/legend Roger Corman did a $2M version that was shelved.

A big budget version is being toyed with, but reportedly it would be so damn expensive it can't be made:

Re: The HULK

Ang Lee thinks he knows what went wrong with his much-maligned Hulk.

Quote:
"I learned quite a bit about CG from The Hulk, and I wouldn't have been able to do Life of Pi without that," Lee says. "But it's easier to create an animal, because there exists a good reference—so a tiger or a hyena is easier than a 2,000-pound rage monster. The hardest thing to do is the weight, not the skin, because there's no reference for something that size that is agile. And the technology's improved, so you can have more details with Mark's Hulk. My problem is that I took the whole thing too seriously. I should have had more fun with it, instead of all the psychodrama! [Laughs.]"
I guess it was a learning experience.

Re: The HULK

Eric Bana's happy his 2003 Hulk movie was a big flop

Quote:
"Yes. And I think I'm so lucky it didn't happen," Bana said when asked if he ever thought about the turn his career would've taken if he'd been asked to make more Hulk films. "So, I think the opposite -- one of the things I was most fearful of at the time is it being a huge success."
Seems he thinks he would've missed out on other career opportunities if he was locked into the Marvel franchise.

Quote:
"I would have had a completely different career, right? I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunities that I've had the last 10 years -- so I wouldn't want to change that for anything," Bana said. "Everyone's career is different and I'm not saying it wouldn't have been exciting -- it would have been a different thing."
I still like the way he treated the character. Most believable of the three men to play the Hulk in the modern era of film.
