The Sound of Music - 8/10. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would given that it's an old movie and a musical.

What's Your Number? - (0.95/10) - I don't know what possessed me to watch this movie all the way through, but I wouldn't be doing you guys any favors if I gave it a 1. Worst movie I've seen in a while.

The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1 7.5/10
Within the realm of all the Marvel and DC animated release I'd say this is clearly the best. Generally these tend to lose a lot in translation, this one however is very true to form. Something I always found distracting with these things was that the animations were too simple, too clean. I feel like there was better attention to detail here. Rather than using the art in the comic to simply set the scene they allowed the iconic panelings to dictate each motion and movement. The term brought to life is overused, but really fits here. This was really my favorite thing Frank Miller ever did. I always liked the less pussy version of Batman that he put out there. As a fan of the original personally I liked this a lot more then Rises. |

God Bless America 7/10. This movie was, ummm, interesting. Black comedy that could have been done a little better.
Exam 6/10. Too predictable. Tucker & Dale vs Evil. 8/10. This was great. |

Wrath of the Titans. 0/10
It was a sunny afternoon, and I put this film on, and fell asleep for 45 minutes. Nothing about this movie makes sense, nothing about the plot makes sense, nothing about the dialogue makes sense. The movie moves along at a pace where you aren't expected to understand what's going on or even care. I didn't think anything could be worse than the first, I was wrong.

Here Comes the Boom– Paul Blart Mall Cop/5
OK, I haven't actually seen anything other than the trailer. But is there any doubt? Abraham Lincoln vs. The Zombies– Here Comes the Boom/5

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Looper 8/10
It's Twelve Monkeys set in the future. I just ruined it. I don't feel bad because most of you haven't seen 12 Monkeys and therefore won't understand and will think this movie is genius.

Looper 77.75/100
I have seen and really enjoy 12 Monkeys. The comparison Hyperion made is a lose one, IMO. It's more like a combination of Drive and Minority Report with a little Back to the Future mixed in. I liked it.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Taken 2- 7/10
Basically a less awesome version of the first movie. I added 2 points because Liam Nesson. Seven Psychopaths- 8/10 Good dialogue, but I knew what was going to happen about 20 minutes into the movie. Strong performances from an awesome cast. The body of work itself fell a little flat though, as opposed to the director's earlier movie, In Bruges. Still one of the better movies I've seen in 2012.

Detachment - 9/10
Damn. I can't believe I never heard about this until I looked up Tony Kaye to see what he was doing with his life. This was easily better than any movie I saw last year except The Tree of Life and A Separation.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Argo gets a 6.5/10
It's very suspenseful and has interesting subject matter, but the plot is cookie-cutter and the characters are under-developed.

Looper: 9/10
Liked it. JGL is my bro, and I love dystopian future type movies. Would have like to see a few things fleshed out more, and to see more of the actual world around them, but the film seemed to be about the right length so I can't complain.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Lost in Austen- **** OK, this one's probably more for Austen fans than others. It's a four part BBC serial about an Austen fanatic that suddenly finds herself trapped in the world of Pride & Prejudice, only her interaction with the people of the novel sends the story careening wildly out of control, and the more she tries to set the story straight the further afield it runs. But a great deal of the humour & charm is dependent on the viewer being intimately familiar with the source material and the adaptations. For example, when the heroine finds herself alone with Mr. Darcy she insists on him acting out a scene from the excellent BBC adaptation starring Colin Firth.
The makers are also smart enough to wildly diverge from the characters of the novel, Georgiana Darcy is no longer an innocent ingenue, Lydia Bennet not a silly twat, Mrs. Bennet not an old silly twat, and George Wickham no longer a villain. All in all for Austen fans it's a lot of fun.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 8/10
This movie has absolutely ruined any inclination I had for seeing the Spielberg version this Christmas. Why? Because this is like a VH1 behind the scenes and totally kicks ass doing it. Sure it's like Van Helsing, but this one is good while Helsing sucked. Why did we get into a Civil War you ask? Well, Lincoln did it to stop the vampires.
