Re: Rate the last movie you saw

The Believer: 5.5/10. Definately an interesting premise (a neo-Nazi, who happens to be Jewish himself), but, IMO, poorly executed. Gosling gave a charismatic performance, with, really, not that much to work with. I wish the film had spent more time developing Gosling's character's personality, and had shed some light onto HOW he came to hold the views he holds. Even within the timeline of the film, there's virtually no reasoning given as to why he suddenly goes from ardent Jew-hater to suddenly questioning his beliefs. and the ending... what the **** does the myth of sisyphus have anything to do with the rest of the film?

History of Violence - 7/10 I don't know how anyone could consider that a 10.......it wasn't that great . And that kid may have been the worse actor I have ever seen.

Life as a Dog(1985) 8/10- Swedish film I watched in flim studies. Really nice story.

Steamboy - 5/10 - ~30 minutes of fantastic animation, 90+ minutes of boring crap.

Prime - 8.0/10

If you had the pleasure of dating an older woman, this one is for you. The film’s humor comes from fleshing out the characters and placing them in awkward situations. Worth your time!

p.s. Uma Thurman is incredibly sexy!

His name is Brandon…he from Compton…he got rapper friends…and he’s your league’s next superstar. Cry!

Knicks fans, can you imagine what Jennings is going to do to you? He’s gonna be slicing through that defense like V for Vendetta. Then, after the game, he’s gonna slice through security and find Donnie Walsh and stab him in the damn heart.

I guess Kobe feels like averaging 30 again. At this point, he’s like Keanu at the end of the first Matrix. He became who he was supposed to be and now he’s just gonna do whatever he wants.

For a flick that features as high-profile a pairing as Scorsese-De Niro, I've always felt it was pretty underappreciated. De Niro's performance, I think, ranks among his very best, and the film overall, while not on the level of Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, or Goodfellas, competes easily with the very best of the rest of Scorsese's work.
