Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones is enough to earn high marks from me. I'm glad I saw it and glad it was made.
The only thing that really bugged me is how Lucas' special effects seemingly haven't improved AT ALL since Star Wars: Episode I. Seriously, the gophers and corny monkeys (none of which were even needed!) look just as fake and cartoony as Jar Jar Binks did 10 years ago. These guys used to be like a decade ahead of everyone, and now they're a decade behind.

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
Agreed on that count. A lot of the CGI (particularly during the chase scene) was terrible.

can you explain how it failed in pacing because i didnt notice anything wrong with the pacing. and yes the special effects were bad but imo were not bad enough to ruin the movie |

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
This was crap in pretty much every way possible. By the time the kid started swinging through the trees like a monkey I didn't even raise an eyebrow.
The beginning was OK, though. There's something exciting about powerful magnets. But it started going downhill when Indy got fired. I also liked the bit in the cavern with the blue guys. They had a few seconds of eerie quiet there. But then the noise and bad dialogue and crummy special effects resumed (how many times do we need to see stone crumbling and debris flying?). And I'm not sure why you guys are sparing Harrison Ford. His acting was terrible. That bit near the waterfall when he says he was told to return the skull? For a moment I thought he was joking. |

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
So was this supposed to be funny? I found it extremely hard to laugh during this, even with the more obvious jokes

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
Spielberg has a corny *** sense of humor. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't.

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
The movie just felt like they were doing a tour of some fancy theme park. Very poorly done. Also Spielberg's obsession with extra terrestrials is kinda creepy.
Also I wont be surprised if the CSI Miami writers were somehow involved with this. The Captain Obvious style dialogue was all over this movie.

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
Wasn't SS going for a 60's style FX?

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
What did computer generated special effects look like in the 1960's?

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
They didn't have any, I just thought I heard a interview somewhere where he said that the effects would be used to makes it seem that way, but I would bet I am wrong.

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
Spielberg and Lucas realize they phoned it in, but they can't say that. However, this is Lucas' fault. He had Frank Darabront's draft of Indy 4, which everyone said was outstanding and he nixed it for his own. This is what you end up with.

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread
Hey, we should congratulate Lucas for not making his script be about Indiana Jones as a child.
