Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread

Terrible movie. Went with my wife and 4 other people. After the first half hour, me and my buddy figured out we couldnt walk out, so we went to my truck for 45 minutes and got drunk.
I laughed at the "I like Ike" comment, and the first couple Greaser jokes before it was way over used.

I had only walked out of one movie before this. Pretty hard to be worse than Solaris. "Where is doctor Jabarian?"

Damn, that's brutal R-Star. I don't think I've ever walked out of a movie, but a true testament of this movie will be this weekend. It did 300+ worldwide and 151 here. Will Indy break 200? If so it would be a roaring success. I mean it's a roaring success now, but once you break 200+ domestic, you tend to be a big winner.

What I thought when watching it was "This would be a good hungover sunday movie". Its rare that I go to the theater for a movie, so I get pretty disapointed when it turns out to be a big pile of dog ****. If I buy a DVD or bluray and it sucks, I never seem to get too worked up about it. Stange, seeing as how most blurays are around $35.

I have to agree though. If they go 200+, it wouldnt matter if it was the worst movie ever, it will be viewed as a roaring success.

You obviously never saw Exorcist II or Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.

(I walked out on Exorcist II after Richard Burton delivered the infamous "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiil" comment. I didn't feel so bad later when I saw the Siskel & Ebert review and realised that they'd walked out on it too.)

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread

I guess I didn't mind the movie... I wasn't expecting Citizen Kane... just some action and a few Indiana Jones one-liners... the tree swinging was stupid... the movie was generally was corny/cheesy (mmm popcorn... pretzels with cheese... sorry, got distracted... I guess I remember the food I ate at the theater more than the movie)... that's all true.

Do you guys really think it was substantially worse than the other ones?

Nothing could be "substantially worse" than Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. You really need to sink down to Night of the Lepus to be substantially worse than that hunk of festering limburger.

True, but Short Round provided a character ripe for parody for years to come.

"You call him Dr. Jones, Doll."

Still Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the best movies of all time. Somehow they got 3 more movies out of it. Not sure how.

Harrison Ford, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and don't underestimate the power of a John Williams score.

You're right, Night of the Lepus isn't substantially worse than Temple of Doom. Thanks for correcting me.

Re: Indiana Jones 4 Thread

I just watched this the other night... I really don't understand how they could think shia labouf swinging on vines back to the truck is a good idea. The first half was good, the 2nd half completely through me off.

Kali Ma Shakti De!

Anyway, Indy 4 is probably one of the 20 worst movies of all-time. What an absolute mess. For Ford, this is like what Battlefield Earth was for Travolta.

Shia LaBeouf Confirms Indiana Jones 5

Quote:
Shia LaBeouf has confirmed that Indy V is off the ground, stating in a recent interview that 'Steven just said that he cracked the story on it, and I think they're gearing that up'.

'Steven' obviously being that Spielberg fellow, who directed the last year's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in which LaBeouf starred as Mutt Williams, son of the eponymous archaeologist.

LaBeouf's character has been rumored to be taking over the reigns of the family business, namely bothering Commie-Nazis, though this is the first we've heard about a sequel.

Speaking to the BBC in an interview for the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, LaBeouf gave no more details about the angle of the story Speilberg has in mind, but in stating that he 'cracked it', suggests that they have found the right direction for the film, but what that means for Harrison Ford and fans of the franchise only time will tell.
