Damn! what an ending! I kept thinking that it had to be dream sequence, no way Rita was dead.

It will very interesting to see how the writers handle Rita's death as it pertains to Dexter's job. Miami PD is going to be all over that place and someone will find something that could get Dexter exposed. I still can't believe it.

Yes, Dexter wont have an alibi for the time of Rita's death either. He'll have an arrest record at the location that they'll eventually find Trinity's van and he had been acting weird all day. I think Quinn might put something together. He seems pretty much ****ed.

I also think that Deb will put the pieces together and find out who he is. In the books i've been told Deb finds out but doesn't really seem that bothered by it, but then the shows producers have said they are trying to distance themselves from the books so it'll be cool to see how they handle that.

He's going to have to look after the kids unless Rita's mum comes back into the show and takes the kids like she was going to earlier on.

This is the first time a Dexter series has ended on a cliffhanger, I both love and hate it completely.

Agreed, things don't look so positive going into the next season. From what I've read, the producers are going away from the books so we shouldn't expect the stories to be identical. Either way, this show has me hooked.

Incredible finale, you guys hit it on the head about dexters problems with the miami police department next season, I was waiting all season for the Dexter-Quinn scenerio to boil over and Quinn is starting to look like the new doakes. I cant wait for next season

On the other hand, Trinity picked up a ****load of money at the bank and vanished, if anything they'd need to charge him with Trinity's death without knowing if Trinity was really dead. I'm not sure that they could pin the wife's death on him. If they do decide to go in this direction, though, I'll be disappointed because it means that they're getting away from the black humour that makes the books and the first two seasons of the show so great.

In the books Deb is awake during the confrontation between Dexter and his brother, knows the relationship between the two, and sees Dex let Brian leave (as well as Dexter's temptation to join his brother in the dismemberment of Deb and Brian's murder of LaGuerta). So, yes, she knows what Dexter is, but is polite enough not to mention it.

I loved the ending of the season, and if it were a harbinger of "Dexter, Single Dad & Serial Killer" I'd love the ending unconditionally, because the comic potential would be vast. My fear is that they're going to get lost in a season 3-style soap opera miasma, because season 3 was far and away the worst of the lot. Michael C. Hall hinted at that scenario in that little interview they had him do with John Lithgow, and I'm hoping that that's not the way they go with this.

Does anyone watch this? I'm 7 episodes into the first season and it's amazing. The problem is my jackass of a friend ruined something huge for me so I'm debating whether I should carry on watching.

Is it worth it? Does it get better?
