Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
Awesome movie for both nerds and non-nerds alike. I'm a nerd who never got into Trek, but loved the film. Deep, emotional scenes juxtaposed with bad-*** action scenes.
Early in the am for me so I'm not going to go more into it. Just go see it.

Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
I have no connection with the Star Trek cast or story so I thought it was pretty boring. The visuals looked nice, but the story was nothing mindbending or blowing. It wasn't bad, but overall I'd still rather see a movie with a story I like even if the movie sucks like Wolverine.
Also I guess what takes away from the movie at least subconciously is that I went on Friday night and the theatre was literally empty, and I live in LA. I've seen the ********* movies and they have been more full.

Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
Loved the movie... I just wish there would have been a better fight at the end... Granted that ship was way bigger but I was just hoping for an actual fight between the Enterprise and the other ship. Also, it didn't really make sense that a typical mining ship was so big and so offensively stacked.

Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
I would think that the threat of Klingon attack would cause all ships especially those that carry expensive cargo to have some sort of defensive capabilities especially considering the size of that ship.

Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
I imagine the size of the ship relates directly to its ability to mine and harvest the natural resources of an entire planet? Seems like it would have to be that big.

Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
Great movie. I'm suspecting it'll wind up as the best movie of the summer. Boy, the trailers for new movies were awful, though.

That's my reasoning for them having weaponry on board. As for Spock being the only remaining original crew member, he's 150 years old there. The rest of the crew is dead.

Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
Btw, did anyone have to deal with ****ing Star-Trek nerds clapping every ****ing 5 minutes? Like could you just save your nerdiness for after the movie, where you can masturbate to pictures of William Shatner? I mean come on... I almost checked the floor for semen when I was walking out.

Thank god no. There was a surprising lack of nerdy-ness at the showing I went to. When I went to see the last Pirate of the Caribbean I couldn't believe how many pirates there were. |

Re: Star Trek: The New Movie
I was disappointed not to see any dorks with Spock ears. The worst I saw was an obese middle-aged guy with a Star Trek t-shirt.
