re: "Avatar" Movie discussion
Unfortunately for you, this is not a ****ty movie and you can say that it is from now till you are blue in the face, that wont change a thing. Dont come in here and act like every movie you watch is breaking the mold story wise. Rarely are any unique ideas coming out of Hollywood anymore, its all been done before. What makes this movie unique is the visuals. Thats its selling point, if you dont like that, dont watch it. You can go find some art house movie to watch that will please you story wise.

In what sense is dances with wolves or last samurai a bad movie or bad storyline? By your logic we can reduce every movie to a ridiculously hackneyed concept

Do either of those movies care more about visuals than story? Read harder next time.

I also like the opinion that because I don't have a hard-on for this silly-*** looking movie, that I only like arthouse films. It's a funny one.

re: "Avatar" Movie discussion
P.S. A movie that only cares about visuals shouldn't have such horrible looking visuals as their main characters. Surely The Genius should have realized this before taking the helm?

re: "Avatar" Movie discussion
You dont need to have a hard on for this movie, heck you dont even have to like it thats fine but dude you are trying too hard to make this sound like its a crappy movie. Every single post of yours in this thread is trying to bring it down. You haven't even seen it. Same **** you pulled off in the Iron man thread and boy were you proven wrong. Keep it up though, all I have heard off this movie so far has been nothing but positives.

re: "Avatar" Movie discussion
Talk about selective memory. I was mad about the direction they took the Iron Man character, and I am still disappointed with it. I certainly wasn't proven wrong there at all. It was an entertaining movie, but it was RDJ in an Iron Man suit, not Tony Stark. (which is what Sherlock Holmes looks like too) I think RDJ is a hell of a charismatic guy, but it's the same thing nowadays. At least he hasn't Denzel'd yet.
As for this extended video game vignette, these are the type of movies I'm against. I'm not a fan of flash over substance. I'm not a fan of spending $500M on a movie so James Cameron can jerk off in a 3D theatre. Give that $500M to the Coens and let them make 10 quality movies with it that you don't need to wear red and blue glasses for.

re: "Avatar" Movie discussion
Some of us just like good ole pop corn flicks, and really why should you nor I care about how much Fox paid Cameron to make his movie? The studio and the guy will probably make 3 to 4 times that amount back (Going by the 200 mill estimate that is) when all is said and done. Thats pretty darn good business. Last I checked studios were in it to make money.
The guy is advancing the medium, maybe you should get with the times. Those cool glasses are the wave of the future.

re: "Avatar" Movie discussion
Roger Ebert compared Avatar to watching Star Wars back in 1977. Now my expectations are pretty high, definitely preordering IMAX tickets for family's Xmas stuff.

I know you wanted it to be darker and focus on his alcoholism (but that wouldn't make sense in a first movie), and you wanted Iron Man to be played by Tom Cruise. That would've been a bad look. It probably would've been worse than Terrence Howard was as James Rhodes.
