I really wasn't buying this at all before I found another source. That looks like a site where people create content to make money. Cam*Ron probably invented the whole idea. Here's the original source

Can not say I know that to be a reliable source. If it's true I'd assume that they'll have to pay Will Smith an awful lot of money to do this.

According to Emmerich's IMDB page they are indeed in development. I'm not sure what to think about it.

This is getting way too real. I like Independence Day for explody fun, but I don't know how the sequels wouldn't be terrible.

Well, I didn't like the original movie, so I am sure I won't be watching sequels in theaters.

i enjoyed the original movie in theaters when it came out but I can't imagine going to watch the sequels when they come out

edit: is the setting for the both sequels going to be july 4th? is there a reason the aliens can only attack us on that day? are they only able to reach us based on our location relative to the sun? are they large fans of irony? do they enjoy being predictable? is this how they celebrate a holiday on their home world which happens to coincide with our Independence Day?

The first one was an entertaining alien invasion blockbuster. Sure it had more loopholes than John Goodman's pants but it was still fun. Since Roland Emmerich is a huge Cameron fan and Avatar a monumental success; I can see these sequels having tons of special effects and 3D galore. Sequels seemed to have been rumored ever since its success at the box office.

One thing's for sure, the US and the rest of the world was completely ****ed after both aliens and humans basically nuked all the big cities.

Wasn't the movie also named ID4? Does that mean the sequels should be named ID5 and ID6? :combust:
