He always had the potential to be that funny, and has been (at times) written as a real jokester.

He had moments but he was more of a prick than a jokester.

The Tonk Stark from the movies is basically a combination of the narcissistic Stark from the comic books and the wise-cracking Hawkeye. MArvel just didn't think Hawkeye could carry his own movie... but somehow Elektra could?

I haven't seen the film yet, CGI fests actually bore the shit out of me, so I was waiting for the rifftrax before seeing the Avengers. But, jesus, as Marv-ell was at the center of the Thanos plot line way back when, so it would take some huge revisionism to ditch him.

There were numerous Thanos plot lines throughout the extents of the Marvel Universe. Revisionism would not be necessary in the least.

Wally Pfister hated The Avengers.
