Re: Breaking Bad
man so excellent , the whole set up was just perfect , cuz in the back of yr mind it's like, 'will jesse die or not?' & yr waiting for the BIG answer to that question , but like , when they answer it , the show has completely changed.

Re: Breaking Bad
This show is so rare in the fact, I actually react when somethting happens. Not like, "oh, cool..."
I had a lump in my throat when Jesse stood up too Gus, I jumped up and yelled out "What the ****!" at the end. When a show can get you to react on that level, it's something special. And man, from the previews, Walt has lost it. Not in a crazy sense, but a cold blooder killer sense now...oh man, the build up with him and Gus will be outstanding leading into next season (assuming they leave us guessing.)

Re: Breaking Bad
Two things:
1) Earlier in the series there was a similar scene, where Walt jr. said he couldn't drive cause of his handicap, and he couldn't properly break. 2) Walt said Jr could use his car for the road test...then Walt ran over the two dealers at the end. My guess is he won't let Jr use his car, leading to a rift between the two heading into next season.

Re: Breaking Bad
I was waiting for Jesse to get killed right there and then... BAM!
I think the car thing was symbolic. Jesse is really the son that Walt always wanted. Or maybe not that sappy but he has bonded in a way with Jesse that he can never bond with his son or anyone else. I think he realized that if Jesse dies he really is alone.

Re: Breaking Bad
Good observation, taking into account all the times he stuck up for, or reached out to, Jesse when he could've literally turned his back and let Jesse kill himself (drugs, suicide, crossing Gus, etc.)

Re: Breaking Bad
Oh yeah, and Gus scares me more every episode. That guy means business.
Also that talk with the PI? How many scenes in this show are just home runs by the actors? The way his lip quivered with anger as he talked was amazing. Just about every actor in this show completely nails their scene. If this show doesn't bring home a lot of hardware during award season there's a problem.

Re: Breaking Bad
That was so perfect, when we FINALLY got to see more emotion from Gus. I mean, he doesn't have to show it to show how tough he is, but man, they really caught me off guard when he got fed up with Jesse. Perfectly executed.
What do you guys think they'll do with Hank next season? I really like his character, but with his set backs he won't be able to get out into the field and hunt down 'Heisenberg' or Jesse. What's the over/under Walt and Jesse skip town next season? Maybe Gus applauds Walt for doing what he did, and why? With the way this show goes, a freakin nuke could get dropped and the show ends right on the spot. You can never tell.

Re: Breaking Bad
it's p. cool that hank was built up to be this inevitable problem for Walt & they completely wiped that away. they are so good at managing the expectations of the viewer & then completely changing them.
