Re: Breaking Bad
Great preview. I'm hyped this season if it's good as it could be, can really put this show in the top tier in modern TV.

Re: Breaking Bad
1 week! I'm gonna have to watch the finale of Season 3 to make sure I know exactly what's going on, but wasn't Walt being held at gunpoint at a standoff with Gus or something? Awesome.

Walt gets to the lab, and he pleads for his life, but all the while he has Jesse on the phone. He tells Jesse to "do it", we then get a cut scene where Jesse is knocking on Gale's door crying and shaking. Jesse walks into the apartment, pulls the gun out, we then go into the point of view of Gale, Jesse pulls the trigger, and the screen goes blank. Walt had Jesse kill Gale, forcing Gus's hand to keep them alive because no one else knows the process outside of Walt. So he has to let him live now.

When Gus was initially confronting Walt he mentioned to him "You left us quite a mess to clean up" A drive by shooting in the drive way of their cook(who is supposed to be a harmless teacher) is not something they want to deal with. Especially when he may have already had an idea something was going down. That wouldnt be the Breaking Bad way to have a shoot out and then act like nothing happens after that. They dont miss the details. They cover all their tracks. Just like in the first few season and Walt and Jesse had to take someone out. It wasnt ever that simple. They had chemicals to buy to get rid of the body, they needed to know how many shots they would need etc.

Re: Breaking Bad
I love the Sopranos and the Wire but they had dud seasons and filler.
Breaking Bad will be(If they keep it up) a wire to wire piece of excellence from top to bottom.

Re: Breaking Bad
They could end if after Season 4 and they would be the reigning heavyweight champs on modern day TV drama's in my book.

Re: Breaking Bad
I guess it's just me individually but this doesn't have near the replay value of Sopranos or The Wire. I think it's becoming one of those things people say.
The writing on this show is excellent but on any major facet I just don't see it ****in with either |

Re: Breaking Bad
Entertainment value?
Happy Gilmore has more replayability then lets say Casablana but its probably not better. Replayabiltiy doesnt work well for a show like BB or Lost either b/c you know where its going and watching something from season 2 will feel pointless. Sopranos has filler stroylines that went nowhere. And this is coming from a guy who has seen each episode several times, I love it. And the Wire gave us that ill-fitting serial killer season on the heels of the captivating 4 kids season. Im someone who thinks many movies can be 10-15 minutes shorter. You cant throw everything into it and expect me to pick out the best parts for myself. Trim the fat

Re: Breaking Bad
Yeah, but Season 5 of The Wire is the shortest one; it was really just about showing the cycle in the neighborhood with Marlo having to get out of the game like Stringer was trying to do from the beginning, and all the kids becoming versions of the characters in Season 1. It really just tied everything up. And Season 2 at the docks wasn't bad either like I thought when I saw it the first time.

Re: Breaking Bad
Right now to me it's
1. The Wire 2. The Shield 3. Breaking Bad With a good season 4, I think Breaking Bad will leap frog Shield. Still though gotta say, The shield gets no love on this forum, it's an amazing show, just because it wasn't on HBO or AMC people kind of ignore it. It has all the entertainment value of The Sopranos and similar story lines to The Wire. Vik Makey is just as G as Tony Soprano and Walt White. And the last few episodes of the final season were amazing. I liked Sopranos and Wire ending but Shield got them beat there.
