will be the guest star. Carla Gugino will be Vince's new agent and love interest. Turtle will plan a birthday bash for Vincent, and of course, Ari is back.....BOOM!

Season 3 was getting a bit played out already. Ari and Johnny Drama were funny, as always, but the plotlines are getting pretty ridiculous with the record-setting openings, threesomes and giving away cars at high school parties etc. I mean, the show was always based on male fantasy gratification to a large degree, but this didn't really work for me. Nice to see all those actors from the Wire, though: Randy's father as the black gangster(shocking, I know), the Greek's second in command as the network exec, Herc as the criminal friend... HBO is a pretty incestuous little world.

As I said, I know it's always been like this, if maybe not quite as strongly, but for some reason the show doesn't seem as good any more. Maybe it's the same and I am just getting tired of it, but it just feels worse, and perhaps I am merely grasping for reasons, since I can't put my finger on why. It's less that they are ridiculous than that they are pandering to the audience. It could be that the very sameness is the problem - they are trying too hard to emulate previous success.

BTW, even if you are probably right on the larger point, I think the threesomes were pretty different. The second one seemed very calculated, directed at a market researched target audience and emphasized and drawn out, while the first was pretty quickly mentioned, and I don't think many people are fantasizing about Turtle and Johnny together.

your points are fair i'm just feelin argumentative. the threesome with Tori and Sloan felt a bit contrived, but I don't see such a happening as unrealistic by any means.

splitting up the Season was a pretty disastrous maneuver, IMO. S3 has had a lot of interesting elements, but when you advertise a "Season Finale" and then the "finale" does nothing to tie any of the loose ends you are really ****ing with what made Entourage work the first two seasons, that is, each Season had a self contained story-arc that, by the end, most of the major questions were answered, but new one's were raised to segue into the next season. This time, no questions were answered and a bunch of new one's were raised.

In the end I think S3 will be on par with the first two, but splitting it up rightfully left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths, especially given HBOs tendency to keep there fans completely in the dark about what is around the bend.

(i mean, would it really be that hard to tell me when wire s4 is out on DVD? would it really HBO??)

It started off where they left off. I knew Llyod would become an emotional character as the series goes along, and the last episode was a proof of that.
