Re: The Hobbit

Radagast wasn't bad. It was nice to have a weirdo wizard akin to the cartoon wizards like Merlin in Sword in the Stone. Good comic relief while also expanding the world of the very linear and not particularly alarming world of the Hobbit.

This sounds like pure regurgitation from a couple of the early web reviews of this movie.

Re: The Hobbit

I don't read movie reviews, but I usually read the one-sentence 'consensus' on RT. Most of the time I agree with it, and in this case it's no different. I enjoyed the film but the pacing hurt it a bit for me.

i did not read any reviews before or after i watched the movie yesterday.

i'm sure normal 3d would have been great. but this hfr 3d looked really fake and artificial.

nonetheless i did like the movie a lot. the only thing that bothered me were randagast and the pacing at some parts, but that was not that bad.

Re: The Hobbit

What the crap, Radagast is like 5 minutes of the movie. He helps expand the world of the Hobbit which is an otherwise straightforward and banal story.

Re: The Hobbit

Hobbit writer reveals why Gandalf's motives cut from 1st film.

Quote:
She explained how the genesis of Sauron's return, and the death of Thorin's father Thrain, will play out as the journey continues:

"We did try it at the front of this movie, and then we moved it. Yes, it's very important that we're going to be doing that. We will be meeting Thráin, and it may be in unfortunate circumstances. It may involve torture. The discovery of who or what is in Dol Guldur is a fantastic part of the storytelling, so yes, of course we went there."

Peter Jackson didn't want to divulge too much, other than the fact that he's working on the Battle of the Five Armies (and it should rock), but promised he has it all worked out in his head:

"There's a lot of potential, isn't there? You never know what we've already filmed as well. But there's certainly a lot of great material, and we'll make good use of it ... We've shot [Desolation], we've cut it, and we just need to refine it."
So cagey.

Why? Why would someone do that? It makes no sense! He spent $80 on that meal and for what? The pleasure of eating a whole heap of shitty food? That's the epitome of dumb. I wish there was a superlative for the antonym of awesome because that's what he is.

Re: The Hobbit

J.R.R. Tolkien's son says Peter Jackson 'eviscerated' his dad's work.

Quote:
At one point, Christopher was invited to meet Jackson and company, but he declined. Why? From the horse's mouth: "They eviscerated the book by making it an action movie for young people aged 15 to 25, and it seems that The Hobbit will be the same kind of film."
Really? I think Jackson has been as faithful to the text as anyone could possibly expect a director to be. This is a little silly. Eviscerated?

Its someone who grew up spoiled and pretentious. There isn't anyone in the world who could have made the film that he wouldn't have hated.

The films were great. And made that sniveling cry baby a shit ton of money off his dads estate so he can shut his mouth.

Wow, I'm glad I don't think like this guy. I saw it in the same format, and I loved it. Yes you could tell some of it was fake, but really who cares?

Stop over evaluating things, and just enjoy the movie. You had to suffer through and entire 5 minutes of Radagast, oh no! And it wasn't even bad, added a different dimention to the film.

Some of the CGI looked fake because the picture quality was too sharp? really you're going to complain about that? Geez, seriously?

I would tell everyone to see the movie in this format, it was great. And if Radagast is going to ruin it for you, go take a shit during that part or something.

Great movie, loved it.
