Re: The Hobbit
As much as I love the Batman franchise, my excitement is very much in the direction of The Hobbit > Dark Knight Rises.
I guess there's just that nostalgiac factor about watching these characters on the big screen again.

Re: The Hobbit
They didn't cast Chris Lee as Smaug even though he wanted to play him? That makes me sad. I guess they didn't want him to play two roles but it sucks his one role is probably going to be short and unnecessary.

Re: The Hobbit
You wouldn't find it odd that you would hear Saruman's voice when Smaug is talking?

Re: The Hobbit
He's playing a dragon. He would surely act in a different voice. It's not like he would use his normal speaking voice.

Re: The Hobbit
Still, you would hear a hint of Saruman's voice in there.

Re: The Hobbit
Love the trailer! Really liked how Thorin looked.
Okay I'll admit my Tolkien nerdom here. Here is my pet Hobbit theory: So remember that black arrow that Bard uses to slay Smaug? I believe that it is a shard from Gurthang, the sword of Turin Turambar. Gurthang was one of the most powerful artifacts of the 1st Age. It was forged by Eol, the dark elf, from a black meteorite. Turin, perhaps the most tragic Tolkien character, uses the sword to slay Glaurung, the first dragon. Glaurung's final words cause Turin to ask Gurthang if it will take his life. "And from the blade rang a cold voice in answer: 'Yes, I will drink thy blood gladly, that so I may forget the blood of Beleg my master, and the blood of Brandir slain unjustly. I will slay thee swiftly.'" Gurthang shatters when Turin uses it to commit suicide. I admit it's hardly conclusive, but they are both colored black which is unusual. And the sword did shatter. And I think Tolkien would have appreciated the symmetry that the first and last dragons were killed with the same weapon. |

Re: The Hobbit
Has Peter Jackson convinced Warners to go ahead with a 3rd Hobbit?

Re: The Hobbit
Underwhelmed by the trailer. Too nerdy, and the Gollum reveal at the end just didn't feel as great as it should have.

Re: The Hobbit
The lack of a trailer in front of TDKR was a surprise to me
