This isn't even close to being true.

Walking Dead's first night ratings were 5.3. The high combined viewers for three different showings of Mad Men in one night is 2.9 million.

Okay I'll admit I messed up on that, I forgot he directed the first episode/wrote two/three episodes. Seeing as I read Lynnx's very first post/article in this thread, I should have remembered.

Okay now what difference does it make in Walking Dead's 6 episodes having the most ratings the network has ever had?

And the difference? A lot of TV shows come out hot and then have viewership die as the show goes on. 6 episodes is not a very good water mark. Lets see how they perform on season 2.

Network renewed it on the strength of those 6 episodes, actually was renewed after the first or second episode I think. Even if there's a drop off, its still crushing Mad Men's numbers. Its not going to have that SIGNIFICANT of a drop-off. Big difference between 5.3 and 2.9

Your argument is they got renewed? Of course they did. THEY ALSO FIRED ALL THEIR WRITERS.
The show could come back stronger and quit with the weak shit its been doing, or it could falter even more.

Sorry, but firing all the writing staff says more to me then "HB says it won't have a significant drop off".
