Well I've had friends look at me as if I just spouted blasphemy when I said I liked BB more than TDK. Good to see yall at least agree that BB doesn't pale in comparison to the latter.

Definitely don't pigeon-hole this movie as a definite letdown. The great thing with Nolan is that you know this isn't going to be like Begins and it won't be like TDK. This is going to be a different style of movie. Can't be sure what, yet, but after Inception, it's kind of hard to not have faith in whatever he does next.

Interestingly enough, Nolan originally intended Inception to be a horror movie of sorts. That is something that could definitely happen in the world of Batman, especially if we're talking about Arkham.

The only way it'd be a letdown is because the Joker is such a powerful character, the yin to batman's yang. No other reason.

I just wish they saved Two Face for this movie both the Dark Knight and this one would be better for it. Since Nolan's already wrote off Catwoman and Penguin who else in Batman's Rogue's Gallery is really worthy?

I actually wouldn't be completely against an original villain (ala Mask of Phantasm) to put against Batman, but that would probably upset a lot of people.

I would still be happy if it was The Riddler. Having a character that is constantly trying to outwit the world's greatest detective always has potential, and I look forward to a darker, more realistic take on that type of character.

In terms of making a new villain, if the came up with something that fit the new universe that well, I probably wouldn't be opposed to it, but it would be difficult.

He never wrote off Catwoman.

Seems like signs are pointing towards her being in it.

On another note: The very first comment in that link came up with an interesting actor for The Riddler, if Gordon-Levitt just so happens to not be cast: Garret Dillahunt. Honestly wouldn't mind that pick at all either.

Yeah, JGL and The Riddler have been linked ever since he was cast in Inception. Nice to see his name still mentioned with it, though.

Like you, I don't see him as a perfect fit on paper, but neither was Ledger as Joker. And JGL is the better overall actor in my mind. There's not much he can do that I won't have faith in.

Scarecrow can be the chemist, Riddler can be the architect, and Joker can be the subject/subconscious. Yikes.

Isn't this big enough that they could make their own villain, a new one?
