Cast Batman 3 (The Dark Knight sequel)

Alrite, so we know it's gonna happen, but we don't exactly know the characters being added, yet. But we have a good idea of the possibles. Here are my ideas, give your own.

Catwoman - Rachel McAdams

No real explanation needed here. Rachel McAdams is one of the best young actresses in Hollywood, she's ridiculously gorgeous, and I mean, look at her. She screams Selina Kyle.

Other possibilities:

Marion Cotillard

Angelina Jolie

The Riddler - Michael Emerson

Viewers of L O S T will completely understand this choice. Emerson is a ****ing fantastic actor. Ben is very much The Riddler.

Other possibilities:

Ewan McGregor

Neil Patrick Harris

Johnny Depp

Ryan Gosling

The Pengiun - Viggo Mortensen

I'm not one who likes to pigeonhole The Penguin as having to be this short stubby guy. Just get a really talented actor in there who can pull it off. Viggo is one of the best actors working today. Getting him would be a major coup.

Other possibilities:

Philip Seymour Hoffman

Bob Hoskins

Damn man, you're killing it. After going through your choices I can't even come up with any. The only ones I'm lukewarm on are Bob Hoskins and Neil Patrick Harris.

Viggo Mortensen as the Penguin - I think that could work. I also agree that it doesn't have to be a short dude.

As far as Michael Emerson, he could really work - but too many people will see Ben from Lost and it may be too difficult to separate the two.

I like Ewan McGregor and Johnny Depp.

I guess Kobe feels like averaging 30 again. At this point, he’s like Keanu at the end of the first Matrix. He became who he was supposed to be and now he’s just gonna do whatever he wants.

Re: Cast Batman 3 (The Dark Knight sequel)

I just love Neil Patrick Harris. He's ridiculously talented. I have confidence in the ability of such hysterical actors like him to easily transition into a dramatic role.

That being said, he NEEDS to be The Flash. That'd be ****ing perfect.

I think Michael Emerson would be ****ing brilliant. If Jolie gets it I think I'll stab myself in the face though. I am not a fan. May as well cast Jennifer Aniston as Waynes new love interest and somehow work in a Donald Trump cameo if they go that route.

I honestly wouldn't mind waiting about 5 years for this movie. I don't want it rushed.

I'm not a big fan of Jolie for the role, either, but I can understand why so many people want her, which is why I included her. But I think Rachel McAdams is the only choice. She's just perfect for it.

No way in hell would Doogie be able to pass off as The Riddler and I definitely don't want Jolie taking the role either. I also don't think McAdams could take on the role of CatWoman. She just isn't... bad enough...

Yeah, Jolie is straight up terrible. Cotillard is good.

McAdams is Canadian man, she grew up fighting grizzley bears, and one time had to suck the saskquatches dick just so he wouldn't kill her family. Read her bio, shes pretty bad ***.

Re: Cast Batman 3 (The Dark Knight sequel)

Count me among those who would despise Jolie as Catwoman. Outside of that, I'm loving the choices, even Neil Patrick Harris works for me. Viggo is an inspired choice as The Penguin. Just a really great idea.

Maybe I'm biased, but what about Sam Rockwell as The Riddler? If Nolan is going to continue his darker, more sinister Batman villian mythos and not make The Riddler as light and campy as in cartoons/movies past, than I think Rockwell fits that mold. Dude just has that cunning evilness in his smile. See: The Green Mile.

Jude Law might work too. His robot character in A.I. has some very Riddleresque inherent strangeness and draw to him. And his character in Road to Perdition although nothing like the Riddler, proves he can work as that dark, evil eccentric Nolan is probably going for.

Or what about a Bale/Nolan/Jackman reunion? Although I think the Jackman suggestion is strictly a choice based on natural charisma, maybe he's not the best way to go about reinventing the Riddler, as I'm sure they want to do.

I still say your picks are more likely/plausible/fitting, but just throwing these guys into the mix for sake of discussion.

I guess Nolan is going to approach this the same way he did in between Begins and Dark Knight, where he went away for the franchise for a moment to do The Prestige. He's doing some sci-fi flick with DiCaprio, which is great in my opinion. The Batman fanboys were furious, but that's because they wanted Nolan constrained to this franchise 24/7 (which I find ironic since these are the same people begging for high quality Batman movies, but don't have the patience to let Nolan's creative process unfold), while most others I think just appreciate any Nolan project. When I heard he was doing a sci-fi film I was stoked. Nolan and sci-fi is just friggin' beautiful.

Outside of Leo, who is confirmed I believe, the rumored cast is pretty interesting; Michael Caine, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, and Marion Cotillard (another reason she might just actually get Catwoman).

And check out this loose description of Inception:

"a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind."

Sounds like we may be getting another classic from Nolan.

Wow, that sounds great. I'm glad Nolan isn't allowing himself to get tied down to the Batman franchise. To be honest, I'm not at all excited about the third iteration.

jmk really seems to like Rachel McAdams. I am not sure why though. First you wanted her as Harley Quinn (which I could see), now as Catwoman. Why do you like her so much? She is very mediocre.
