How long might it take to tell the whole story?

Yeah, I was wondering how long it could go just starting with this season. Book 3 was much longer than 1 and 2 and I was wondering if they'd go 12-15 episodes in Season 3. Then there's a lot to play with from books 4-5 as they are technically one really really long book, just split up by Westeros and Wall/Essos.

I imagine books 6-7 will be quite long as well.

I said that last year in this thread and a couple people told me it'd be ridiculous to expect it to even go seven seasons.
