Re: Game of Thrones
It's crazy too because Ray Liota is a good actor but holy **** that was one of the worst performances that I've ever seen.

Re: Game of Thrones
That particular instance was just me implying the fact I was thinking about was so infinitesimal in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't worth putting on the show. But sure thing, I don't want to walk on egg shells anyways.

Re: Game of Thrones
Everybody's got theories, here's mine. John Snow is going to somehow ride those (spoilers: hatched things) to kill the white walkers. The Night watchers will start to get slaughtered, and he'll have to go around uniting everybody against the threat, including the Kaleesi and the Lannisters. Remember they never say who his mother is, so they could always make him part of the royal bloodline.
Remember Snow's CO said "does it matter who's on the throne when the white walkers come" There's gotta be an Aragorn in the story. If it's not Ned, it's down to Robb or John. Maybe even Jamie Lannister, or Bron the guy who doesn't use a shield. Tyrion is Frodo.

Re: Game of Thrones
The name of the book that this show follows.. A Song of Ice and Fire.. I say, John Snow represents the Ice and Danerys represents Fire. Loved the show and I may get into reading the books, I'm happy they follow the books as close as they do. So fans of either can take up the other and enjoy it.

Re: Game of Thrones
As far as how much the show gets into the books - Each season seems to represent one book, however they could drag it out if they wanted to - if Martin takes too long getting the last few books out. This season covered all of Game of Thrones, in terms of the timespan covered. However it missed a LOT of stuff that I don't think will ever be caught up in the show:
(NOTE: No spoilers, just looking at what is being missed and not likely to change/be covered) 1. They glossed over the relationship of the dire wolves to the children. In the books the dire wolves are NEVER away from the children. It looks like they're covering it with the youngest boys - have we even seen Robb's wolf lately? 2. They only briefly mentioned Jorah's last name: Mormont. Remember that the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch is also a Mormont, his father. Basically: Jon Snow has the sword meant for Jorah. So for those saying Jorah seems shady, remember that he is in exile and looking for any way back home - the show made it clear (to me, at least) that he was the one behind the wine being poisoned, and he thought better of it. He may seem underhanded, but its clear in the show (although barely acknowledged) that he had a change of heart and decided to protect Danaerys. 3. Joff, Sansa, and Danaerys are all meant to be 13 in the books. The actress playing Danaerys is 23/24. The actress playing Sansa is apparently 15 (I could only find one bio, listed her birth year as 1996) (uncomfortable nude scene, remember she's meant to be 13 in the show! She hasn't "bled" yet). The actor playing Joff is apparently in college. They're really messing with perspective on the characters' ages using actors of varying ages, and having a nude scene with a Sansa that isn't meant to have had a period yet... But remember those characters are meant to be very young - exemplifying the cruelty of children. Also loving how Tyrion has become an ever more sympathetic character. Thats exactly what happened in the books at this point. And watching the maturity of Jaime as a character in the show has been great - they've done it very subtly. Additionally: I've read that although Robb Stark is all but ignored in the second book, they're going to implement a lot of stuff from book 3 in the second season. So no disappearing characters. Basically books 2 and 3, and books 4 and 5 occur simultaneously, but each covers the characters on a particular half of the continent, with very few of them in both books. So seasons 2 and 3 will probably do a lot of intermingling the contents of the next two books.

Re: Game of Thrones
Also, anyone else surprised when they saw Robert Baratheon was being played by the fat guy from Still Standing?
I saw him and I was like "I know this dude.... I know this dude.... who is it? Oh yea! Man, that fat **** can't play King. Why not just pick Kevin James if you're going to pick a fat comedy show guy?" but it turns out dudes a real actor and did an amazing job. Crazy.

Re: Game of Thrones
Sansa is supposed to be the queen. The King's not about to let her **** the clergyman.
Anyone else agree that Robb Stark is just a one-dimensional character? He's too boring to be a hero; there's no depth to him. He's seems to be the only character with no flaws. The others would be the boss who gave John Snow his sword, and Ned. Something foreboding. That's why my money's on Snow to be the man. Hope they show more of Tyrion & Bron's adventures. A different place and time, and they'd make a great buddy-cop duo.
