Re: Homeland

The season was up and down for me. There's only so much I can overlook in a TV show as far as logic is concerned and there was points this season where it was hard to wrap my head around certain story lines (the #1 terrorist in the world can enter the the US and go unnoticed just by shaving off his beard?, etc.). But I really liked the finale. They'd built it up to get people thinking it would be about whether or not Brody would survive and that turned out to be a pretty quick resolution. The VP's funeral blowing was crazy. Was not expecting that at all. And the terrorists releasing the Brody confession and framing (or not framing) him was another shocker. I have no idea what they'll do with Brody next season, but if he just grows a beard and because of that he's able to walk around and go unnoticed, I might be done with the show.

Re: Homeland

Previews for Season 3 looks good.

I was a bit disappointed in the S2 finale.

Re: Homeland

It's a good show but I can't stand Clare Dane's annoying ****ing face that she makes EVERY SECOND of the show.

That same god damn face. Over and over. And she keeps winning best actress.

Re: Homeland

Just got into this last night and got hooked into 6 episodes. Really enjoying it. I don't find Claire Danes the least bit attractive with her angular face poking out every which way, but sweet mother of Diable is the army wife hot. Like smoking hot.

Re: Homeland

Those breasts. They improve each and every season.

This season has been pretty good, some of the usual holy shit moments remain which is why I really enjoy the show. Akdiba blowing the head off Brody's escapee friend was one of those such moments.

Re: Homeland

The last episode of S3 was excellent. It's gotten popular to shit on this show, but I liked this season and I look forward to what happens in S4.

This is not a bad show by any means, but comparing it to Breaking Bad or Mad Men is pretty laughable.

Re: Homeland

Haha, you must not have many TV shows you can watch if that is what you're comparing everything to.

It certainly isn't in my Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones category, but I really enjoyed the first season none the less.

Easy to say after a couple years of unfulfilled promise. I haven't watched season 3 yet but heard bad things.

I still think season 1 is among the best seasons any TV show has had, but I can see how if you are just coming to the show now, it might not have quite the same impact since there are implicit spoilers in the knowledge that a show has had 3 seasons with much the same cast.

During the original run remember, it was a new show on Showtime that nobody was watching, hadn't been renewed for a second season (at least until most of the way through), and didn't have any Emmy awards framing what they could and couldn't do with characters. For whatever it's worth, at the time the show was completely convincing that Brody actually would (be allowed to) go through with a suicide attack since there was no coloring from future promotional materials to let you know that it wasn't going to happen. The result was a sense of dread and inevitability that I don't ever remember a show approaching before (but of course, has since been blown away by the final season of Breaking Bad). The resolution was also complete enough (minus the tunnel scene at the end) that it allowed the season to stand on its own and would have been sufficient as the end of the series had it not been renewed. Part of the problems with season 2 I thought were the gymnastics they had to go through to make a sequel out of what was basically a very good, stand-alone movie.

I was referring to the people that were putting homeland in that category.
