in what way is a bow superior to a gun (aside from not making any noise)? - this green arrow dude, he could be the punisher if only he was a little more creative in his choice of weaponry

That's what makes it appealing. Bows take more skill to be accurate with and there are a million other heroes and villains who use guns. There are only a handful of characters whose weapon of choice is the bow and arrow... and most of them are awesome.

Re: Arrow

Arrow execs explain how we might see some Justice League cameos

Quote:
But how would Batman and Superman work in the world of Arrow?

Basically, they wouldn't be as "fantastical" as they've been portrayed in comics, cartoons and The CW's recent Smallville. Instead, producer Marc Guggenheim says they'd find a way to reimagine those characters and themes in this parallel universe:

Quote:
"You'll still hear about characters from those worlds and from those cities. We're imagining a DC universe without super-powered characters but that doesn't mean that in our parallel universe that there isn't a Metropolis or a Gotham City. There are references to places like Corto Maltese (a wartorn island) and Markovia. I would listen and watch carefully if you're a comic book fan because some of the references are really subtle and will go past a lot of people.

We've got a lot of different characters and then there are characters you may not recognize unless you're a diehard comic book fan. One of the things we've done, mainly because we're fans, is we've thrown in a lot of Easter eggs for the hardcore fans. If you're a big fan of the DC Comics universe, you'll see a lot of familiar names and places: Big Belly Burger, which is a hamburger chain from the Superman comic books makes a regular appearance on our show and we have a Big Belly Burger franchise as one of our standing sets."
Though fans are always chomping at the bit to see the major characters, fellow producer Andrew Kreisberg said they're more interested in finding ways to weave smaller characters and Easter eggs into the series, as to not distract from Arrow as the main hero in Starling City. Just in season one the series looks to introduce China White, Deadshot, the Huntress, Felicity Smoke and probably a few more names we haven't heard yet. But, he stressed, they're "open to anything" at some point:

Quote:
"We're open to anything and everything; I'm not entirely sure you'll be seeing characters like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman because they're much more fantastical and right now we're focusing on Oliver Queen as being the only hero. That being said, we're looking forward to bringing on other DC Comics characters and characters that people have never really seen before or lesser-known characters. That's what's been fun for us; Superman will always get his due."
I like the way they are approaching this, so far. Let's see if they get pressure from the higher-ups to change their approach at some point. Glad to hear the first episode was a ratings success, though.

Re: Arrow

The most recent episode was the most well-balanced on yet. Plotlines are being revealed in a slow and calculated way on this show. I have been impressed thusfar.

Bows are dumb. You want skill...use a musket.

Now, if there was a vigilante hero who keeps bringing a screwdriver to a gun fight, that'd be awesome.

Re: Arrow

Arrow producer on how last week's HUGE reveal changes everything

Quote:
"Dig finding out is going to rock everyone's world. We always knew early on that we wanted to give Oliver someone to talk to. We didn't want to constantly have voiceover where he was expressing his thoughts to the audience."

"We always say that if Oliver is the dark the Dig is the light and the truth is somewhere in between. They really need each other -- Oliver needs someone to remind him of the value of life and that the extreme way is not the only way. And that sort of push and pull between the characters has given us so many great episodes because you get to see them not just having fun as partners but also see them wrestle with the morality of this quest they are both on.

Since [Dig has] come back and is in personal security, he feels like he's not making a difference in the world. So teaming up with Oliver certainly gives him the opportunity to do that."
This almost had to happen. No one ever keeps their secrets from EVERYONE.

Firefly

The character will be portrayed by actor Andrew Dunbar.

Quote:
Arrow's been pretty quick to have a laundry list of DC characters turn up, including Deadshot, China White, Deathstroke and the Huntress. In the show's 10th episode, though, we'll get our glimpse of Firefly, a firefighter turned supervillain after being horribly burned.
Never heard of this one.

Re: Arrow

Martian Manhunter?

Quote:
While discussing how both Arrow and Martian Manhunter would be affected by the ongoing DC 52 relaunch, Andreyko said, "If you're not watching Arrow show on CW, you probably start with this Wednesday's episode ..."
I don't know what that confirms, if anything.

Count Vertigo

Quote:
{A} deadly new drug that becomes all the rage in Starling City in the Big Bad's introductory episode (set to air in early 2013) will be called Vertigo.
And then what is the story with this...

Quote:
Count Vertigo has the ability to disorient his victims, making them dizzy and unbalanced. He usually achieves this with a psychic wave. Even though Arrow's dead set against superpowers, his will somehow remain intact.
