Re: 90 Best Movies of the 90's
Ghost is top 90 borderline, perhaps. Ms. Doubtfire is probably top 150 or so. Titanic... eh... maybe top 90. I wouldn't say it's a lock. I am still in the progress of making my list. Actually, I'm on a conference call at the moment. I'll finish it once this actual work slows down.

Re: 90 Best Movies of the 90's
I screwed up the numbers on this because there were just too many good movies. I will unleash my list in tiers (because that's how I ranked them in the first place). The 7th tier will be the honorable mention movies that did not quite make the top 102:
Ghost Quiz Show The Hunt for Red October The Game Scream 2 A Few Good Men Malcolm X The Full Monty Notting Hill Total Recall It was tough to leave a few of these off my big board. I love all of these movies. It goes to show you how difficult it really is to make a list like this for a whole decade of film. Nonetheless, the list soldiers on.

102) We Were Kings - Top 5 boxing documentary of all-time.
101) Presumed Innocent - One of Harrison Ford's most interesting characters on display. 100) The English Patient - Excellent use of flashback story-telling. 99) The Crow - How could this list not include Brandon Lee's final film appearance? 98) Secrets & Lies - I feel like this movie did a lot for race relations in film. 97) Dead Man Walking - First time I had ever seen such a sympathetic take on a murder involving the clergy. 96) Croupier - What would Ocean's 11 (2001) have been without this forbearer? 95) Groundhog Day - Consistently funny movie no matter how many times I watch it. 94) The Thin Red Line - Easily one of my favorite WW2 movies. 93) Gattaca - One of the few times Jude Law didn't absolutely murder a movie for me. 92) What About Bob? - This still remains my favorite Richard Dreyfuss movie of all-time. 91) Ghost Dog - The Way of the Samurai - Pure awesomeness... but with some obvious flaws. 90) As Good As It Gets - Somehow a million airings on TBS still hasn't destroyed this movie for me. 89) South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut - This may be an unpopular choice, but I still laugh (a lot) every time I see this movie. 88) Searching for Bobby Fischer - Josh Waitzkin is one of the best child characters in movie history. 87) Scream - This feels like the right place for the movie that launched a thousand parodies and meta-parodies. 86) Unforgiven - Eastwood hadn't quite perfected his directing game, yet, but it is still a fantastic film. 85) Liar Liar - This movie might not exactly be critically acclaimed, but it's just plain fun and heart-warming... and way better than Mrs. Doubtfire. 84) The Apostle - Robert Duvall undoubtedly gives the best performance of his late career in this one. 83) Goodfellas - Don't get me wrong, I liked Goodfellas. It just isn't on the level of some of the other films it is often compared to.

Re: 90 Best Movies of the 90's
Ha, sorry, I was on my phone so I made a brief statement of fact... it just stood out because generally it seemed like you were making some good picks... then I stumbled upon the turd that is Liar Liar.

Re: 90 Best Movies of the 90's
I don't hate the list. There's a couple things I'd change though.
Toy Story 2 was easily the worst of the trilogy. Nightmare before Christmas should be there. Jurassic Park should be in there somewhere. I might move the 2nd Terminator up a few spaces.

Re: Tier 6: (Movies 83 thru 102)
You are just wrong on this one. This movie was fantastic. You're just wrong here. Maybe you're thinking of Casino because Goodfellas was on par with Godfather, not better than but not exactly Deep Impact/Armageddon.

Tier 5: (Movies 61 thru 82)
82) Cliffhanger - What can I say? I'm a sucker for John Lithgow as the bad guy. Be it Earl Talbot Blake, Eric Qualen, or the immortal Arthur Mitchell, sign me up.
81) Beauty and the Beast - Simply a beautiful and majestically animated film with inspired writing and quality musical numbers. 80) Four Weddings and a Funeral - This is pretty much the pinnacle of British rom-coms for me. 79) Sense and Sensibility - I have to admit that I'm an unabashed Ang Lee fanboy. I even liked the Eric Bana Hulk. 78) Boys Don't Cry - This movie just lives on the edge throughout its first half, and then... well... I have never looked at a pinball machine the same since. 77) Sweet and Lowdown - This is my favorite Sean Penn comedy and also the funniest Woody Allen movie I've ever seen. 76) Metropolitan - As far as talky, social-scene movies go, this is one of the best. 75) Three Kings - Most of the lasting images I have of the Persian Gulf War came from this movie. Is that sad? 74) Short Cuts - Serendipity is on full display throughout this disjointed film. I like the story-telling style that went on to inspire some of my favorite movies of the 2000's. 73) Ghost in the Shell - The Puppet Master is just one of those iconic characters that sticks in your mind and never crawls out. 72) Husbands and Wives - All the characters are neurotic and shallow and nothing really gets resolved. Quintessential Woody Allen. 71) Trainspotting - I consider this a poor man's Snatch. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not quite top 70 for me. 70) Saving Private Ryan - This is another movie that I'm not quite as high on as others. The first act is brilliant, but the quality fades towards the end in my mind. 69) The Nightmare Before Christmas - The fact that I couldn't find a way to put this classic any higher is a testament to just how great a decade of movies the 90's was. 68) The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg - If you consider yourself a baseball fan, it is nearly impossible not to love this documentary. I can't believe the movies are getting this good this soon. 67) The Truman Show - I can remember walking out of the theater the first time I saw this movie and looking up into the sky to see if a light was going to fall. 66) Being John Malkovich - Watch this film to see a power-hungry Puppeteer run amok. It's weird but legitimately solid. 65) Sling Blade - This is another movie I'm not as high on as some people. I find the movie boring and plodding at times despite the obviously intriguing premise and wonderful acting. 64) Eve's Bayou - Undoubtedly one of the most glaring omissions from the original list. This movie has always reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth in the dream-like way the real world is shown through the eyes of a child. 63) Casino - I like this movie, but it is not without flaws. This feels about the right spot for it. 62) Babe - Though not in the stratosphere of its near flawless sequel, this movie really set the bar higher than this genre ever had before. 61) The Piano - Beautiful setting, period-accurate wardrobe, and a seamless script are the recipe for the top of my tier 5.

Re: Tier 6: (Movies 83 thru 102)
I like Casino better than Goodfellas, actually. I'll take it one step further that I'm sure will make you think less of me... I agree that Goodfellas is almost on par with the Godfather. I just don't think the Godfather was all that "great" either.

Re: 90 Best Movies of the 90's
I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you, there. I actually think Toy Story was that rare trilogy that actually got better every movie. I rank them 3, 2, and then 1.
