Jedi was the weakest of the three but it was still a really good movie. Just because a 9 is following two 10s doesn't mean that it wasn't a great trilogy. I liked all of the Lord of the Rings and enjoyed all of the books, but I wouldn't put it over the original Star Wars.

Those LOTR movies were extremely well done though.

Doubtful. I actually don't like most of Coppola's films, certainly very little after Apocalypse Now. And I'm a philosophical contrarian. But The Godfather is a great film, you lack taste.

I choked up a bit in LOTR. Ok a lot. I probably would have cried if someone were to ask me how I was feeling at that moment. It was when the riders of Rohan showed up to the battle of pellinor fields and they, like the bunch of badasses that they are, start shouting death. Yeah, they know they're going to die and they're taking as many orcs with them.

Re: Favorite movie trilogy?

I just don't get why everyone loves Empire more than New Hope or ROTJ. Hoth vs Endor? Endor is way cooler. Training with Yoda vs killing a Rancor and feeding Boba Fett to the Sarlacc? No contest. The hero losing his hand and getting his ass handed to him or restoring balance to the force? Incest kiss vs It's a Trap!

ROTJ is clearly the best one of the three followed by New Hope and then Empire. I'm sick of these Kevin Smith fanboys trying to be counterculture on this by saying the second one was the best. It wasn't.

I think that's a win for Empire, because who's doing the ass-handing? Only one of the best villains and characters in fictional history. The all-around badassedness of Darth Vader in Empire makes it the best film. In ROTJ, he's a bald old guy.

Re: Favorite movie trilogy?

Lord of the Rings is definitely up there. Never saw ANY of the Godfathers, I've tried a couple times and get bored about 5-10 minutes in and turn it off. I really need to force myself to watch them.

And you know what, I don't care, the 'Friday' trilogy is awesome. There I said it.

Re: Favorite movie trilogy?

Empire Strikes back is the best star wars movie ever. I don't really see how it's debatable. Star Wars is probably the only series that can be ranked 1-6 without argument.

1.) Empire Strikes Back
2.) A New Hope
3.) Return of the Jedi
4.) Episode 3
5.) Episode 2
6.) Episode 1

Well we have a misunderstanding. I didn't say it was a bad film. I said it is an overrated film.

Re: Favorite movie trilogy?

It actually isn't overrated. It really is one of the best films of the last 50 years. When you argue that point, all that you're proving is that you were probably serious when you mentioned The Mighty Ducks.

No it isn't. Just with Al Pacino I would rather watch Carlito's Way, Scarface, or Heat instead of Godfather.
