Re: Vince Young broke

^Yeah he was downhill before he left the Titans. He didn't handle adversity well. A good QB can throw a few picks and still bounce back. They're unflappable. VY threw 2 picks, allegedly refused to re-enter the game, and then threw his pads into the stands after screaming at the coach. That's the opposite of unflappable.

After that Rose Bowl VY was on top of the world. Him or Reggie Bush could've gone first. Even with all his mechanical flaws VY went 3rd overall. Tebow, who's way more decorated than VY, went 25th. VY as a prospect >>>>>>> Tebow as a prospect.

VY flamed out of the league crazy fast though. He just doesn't strike me as a guy you can bet your organization on. Mercurial QBs don't last in the NFL.
Vince Young never should have went that high no one in Titans organization even wanted him except for the owner. When you look at his character issue, flawed mechanics, and the fact that he was a project going to a team whose coaching staff didn't want him which possibly hindered his development him being out of the league should not shock anyone. Maybe if he went to team that wanted him with Andy Reid-type QB guru that could have worked on hiding his flaws and if he had a better work ethic he could have been McNabb-esqe.

If Bud Adams didn't insist on taking him 3rd, he would still be taken ahead of Leinart or Cutler. Sure he had some flags, but...

On-field performance trumps combine stats and drill results. What a moment.

Re: Vince Young broke

Mark Brunell is broke too. Let's talk about that. 17 years in the league $50 million earned over his career and he has nothing.

It's easy to pile on Vince Young, and that's not excusing how dumb he was with his money but it's nothing new. There are always people in the ears of players and get them to use money on things they shouldn't. David Akers is also another player who went bankrupt, but the way the dialogue goes what we tend to talk about on message boards tends to be the same type of people.

Also about Vince Young. His problem wasn't his mechanics as much as it was his work ethic. I was a big time apologist for him but his work with the Eagles was atrocious.

Re: Vince Young broke

eh I could probably blow 50 million in 17 years. After taxes that's only about 35, then another 3 to 5 million for the agent. You gamble a little, whore around a little, hit the club a couple times per week and pretty soon you're not even talking about serious money. ****, give me half a chance and I'll prove it to you guys.

Re: Vince Young broke

Brunell had a lot of money tied up in real-estate projects that went under when the housing market collapsed. Vince Young went broke the way every athlete form poor circumstances goes broke: by allowing his "people" to leach him and use him as their ticket. He had a shady uncle managing the money and writing out checks to everyone he knew blah blah blah it's happened a million times before. The NFL goes out of its way to warn rookies about this exact thing but some never grasp the concept that one day the money will stop.

Brunell lost money in real estate investments. VY lost money by habitually buying out the bar at restaurants. Big difference.

Best college QB I have ever seen. Took the title from Tommy Frazier. Gonna be real hard to top.
