He isn't being used as a third down back, he isn't a very good blocker, he rarely catches passes out of the backfield. When he was a rookie, most people thought he would improve in those areas and he has done that, but not as much as he should have. Maybe that concept is difficult to grasp for you, being able to run the ball is the most important job description for a running back, not the only attribute that matters. He is easily the best pure runner among the backs in the league, most definitely not the best all-purpose or most complete back. That doesn't mean he isn't the best back in the league right now, but you need to consider the negatives as well as the positives, otherwise you are kidding yourself.
