If he wasn't throwing ground balls, he was throwing the ball 20 feet over receivers heads.

Overall though I can't complain with how the season went. Everyone had us finishing last in the NFC North and we beat some very good teams along the way to make it to the playoffs. Looking forward to next year for sure.
Don't know if Ponder would've made a difference, but I can tell you they would've lost Week 17 with Webb in there instead of Ponder. Vikings need a big time number one receiver on the outside, sure up the offensive line (need better pass protection, possibly a LG) and they have a few holes on defense to plug. Should be competitive again next year though, solid team with a much improved defense. Harrison Smith is a stud.

Ponder just ain't that good. He wasn't that good in college either. He probably wouldn't have thrown the ball over his head twice like Webb, but I don't think he would have been much more effective passing (and definitely less effective running); I think back to his game at Lambeau in the regular season.

I'd be interested in seeing Ponder's Week 13 DVOA vs. Webb's Playoff DVOA.

Ponder isn't a great quarterback by any means, but he can at least make some throws(hello Week 17). With Joe Webb, we virutally had ZERO passing attack. He looked like it was his first time playing quarterback. It would've been a much different game with Ponder, not saying we would've won, but it would've been a better game that's for sure.

No doubt.. i would say with ponder you would of had about a 25% shot at winning on saturday with webb it dropped to about 5%

I mean, like Knick Killer said Ponder isn't a great quarterback but to act like they couldn't have possibly won with him in there a week after they did win with him in there is pretty stupid. Yes the stakes were raised slightly (both were playing for a lot in Week 17) and the venue changed, but a Ponder led offense put up 37 points on the Packers a week ago. The Joe Webb led offense could barely move the ball and had single digit passing yards in the first half. It's not like the Packers offense set the world on fire Saturday either.
