Re: Happy New Year! You're FIRED.

You get executive of the year for making moves that obvious? How about Ted ****ing Thompson who is holding this Packers team together with tinsel and duct tape? Can you name a single Packers starting Offensive Lineman? I CAN'T EITHER.

It's not even just that they got Tebow, it's that they got Tebow and felt that was enough and they were a playoff caliber team. They overvalued Sanchez because of the AFC championship game runs and refused to put the talent around him to have a legitimate offense. You can't go out there with Mark Sanchez, Shonn Greene, Bilal Powell, Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley as your top skill position guys and expect to compete with the big boys, regardless of the confidence you have in your defense and special teams. They've been deficient of playmakers for years and have refused to do anything about it, mostly because they came "close" a couple times and thought they could get away with not addressing their glaring needs.

Re: Happy New Year! You're FIRED.

I'm glad Lovie is gone. I don't blame players for liking him, he comes off as a great guy, but he's not that good of a coach. In fact, he's pretty darn overrated. For all of Angelo's mistakes, Lovie had just as big of a part in them as Angelo. Lovie supported the number 1 WR by committee until Emery came in and got Marshall, Lovie continuously ignored the OL along with Angelo believing the guys just needed time together(the OL has been declining since 2006, what has been done?), Lovie continuously struggled finding the right offensive coaching staff, Lovie continuously was getting outcoached in games, Lovie continuously threw the red challenge flag just to lose the challenge, etc...

Re: Happy New Year! You're FIRED.

Be careful what you wish for. I also find it amazing that the Bears managed to employ a GM if Lovie Smith was really the one making all of those decisions. There's a reason we fired Jerry Angelo before this season.

I don't think he's a coaching genius or anything (and his inability to correctly challenge plays drove me nuts too) but at a certain point the offensive woes are an organizational failing. I don't think any of us really know who was calling the personnel shots. I would have given him another year.

There's also a reason we made it a requirement for all GM candidates to keep Lovie for the first season. Not saying Lovie made all those decisions, but he had a heavy say in what moves were made, it wasn't all Angelo.

I'm hoping for Mike McCoy.
