Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
Im very interested to see how much of his offense he can keep together in the pros. Im a little upset though because I like Oregon. A

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
Cleveland is one of the worst jobs in the league... i dont know if Kelly can make miracles happen. The browns need alot of help all over the field

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
Cleveland has talent. They need stability for once.
With his drive, approach, and willingness to adapt to personnel - I think he can be successful. I'm sure he may want to run what he wants to when he gets more of his guys in but he'll mold it differently, probably not run his offense completely in NFL. There's been more of upward trend with spread offenses though. He's also already been involved helping other NFL coaches for few yrs. |

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
They have Trich, Thomas and Haden... three nice foundation guys but the rest of the team just isn't very good. Mainly for me the problem in Cleveland is their inability to find a quarterback... if Weeden is anything better than average in this league ill be suprised. All these teams that fired their coaches have huge holes at quarterback (Chicago excluded) Thats the main reason they are in the position they are in...unless you are a Weeden believer (which im really not) its going to be at least few years before cleveland is relevant again... this is assuming that they arent going to give up on their first round pick after one year and start developing someone new or go out and sign a free agent. I just think cleveland as of right now is a dead end job

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
Josh Gordon, Alex Mack, Greg Little also on offense. They definitely need a QB. The defense is also better than it seemed last yr, and especially towards the end. Offense put em in bad spots. There is talent there with aforementioned Haden, Jabbal Sheard, D'Qwell Jackson, Ahtyba Rubin, and Phil Taylor. Maybe even missing someone. Sherard's a potential stud with 15.5 sacks and 6 FFs his first 2 yrs.

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
I shouldn;t have dismissed so many players on their team but it starts and stops with QB in this league, and those guys aren't good enough to carry a team with an average to below average quarterback. Cleveland probably isnt going to go in a different direction at that position for at least 2 more years. I just dont like the situation for a first year head coach with no NFL head coaching experience. Its the kind of place where he will go 7-9 then 6-10 and go back to college somewhere

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
Also the Browns new Owners looks like he is gonna go all in with that team. I expect the Browns to have a major turn around over the next few years

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
Its not going to be easy since i believe they traded back into the first to get Weedon last year... and i dont know if there is going to be a free agent available thats going to instantly make them a contender. If they can find a Russell Wilson like gem in the mid rounds then i can see them making a switch

Re: Chip Kelly to Cleveland
I forgot about the new ownership group. Its very possible they may go elsewhere even if first round QB's are usually given prolonged periods of time to develop.. it just doesnt happen very often. I know they traded back into the first last year to get weeden but i think they have washingtons first this year so taking a qb in the first may be possible. Geno Smith may be a real nice quick fix if they can get him
