Yeah, a partial tear doesn't involve reconstruction even when surgery is necessary.
Snyder should be sued for this. He's putting every player at risk, but the league let it slide for years. Maybe it takes superman/MJ/Lebron/Jesus to get hurt to be the final straw.

This was before the game. Note: "messy".

Why does it look like that?

Surgery for @RGIII on LCL scheduled this week and Dr. Andrews will determine how much damage on ACL at that time, per .

Re: Skins' QB RGIII suffered partial tears in ACL and already injured LCL

RG3 is the shit and I completely back his decision to play in the biggest game of his football career to this point. Whether or not he should have been given the "okay" is another conversation entirely, but it's obvious that he cares about his team and winning games and that should absolutely be commended.

Anyways, hopefully RG3 bounces back. Most exciting player to enter the league in years.
RG3 is 99% crucial to the Skins beating a team like Seattle. Even a healthy Ponder wasn't absolutely essential for the Vikes to win and may have gone for 150 yards and 2 picks. They had a chance if they got a defensive TD and Adrian got 200 yards with 2-3 TD. Plus CP's arm looked diseased.

For some reason Webb is a stud when it can force the Vikings' pick to be later in the draft, but in this game he was garbage. He didn't even feel potential sacks and move away from them and couldn't throw.

They should have signed Darron Thomas undrafted.

Re: Skins' QB RGIII suffered partial tears in ACL and already injured LCL

That logic doesn't really work well when we know that the Skins had a more than adequate back-up and the Vikings turned out to be playing 10 against 11. It is hard to say that Griffin could not have been much better though, because he either re-injured or injured his knee during that game. He was very effective to start the game, but after the hit on that second TD drive he was never right physically. It did not appear that he was able to plant his right leg afterwards and with hindsight it seems likely that they would have been better served to have gone to Cousins, both to safeguard RGIII and to give themselves a better opportunity to win that game.

Re: Skins' QB RGIII suffered partial tears in ACL and already injured LCL

The player is always going to say yes 9/10

It's up to the team doctor and coach to say no....Shanahan gave RG3 the benefit of the doubt after the way he performed in Dallas, plus Shanahan's an "old school" guy so he thought he could gut it out. He couldn't, but the injury isn't on anyone.

He didn't become seriously hindered until he tweaked it in the first half, that's when he should've sat probably, but I don't think he should've sat altogether.

RG3 should of been sat at half time. That way all Cousins had to do was maintain the lead and game. I do believe the doctor when he said he never checked RG3 out or cleared him a couple weeks ago. Playing injured can lead to more serious injury. That's just common sense.

Re: Update: RGIII to undergo total reconstruction surgery, should be ready for '13 season

Quote:
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will undergo total reconstruction surgery of his right knee early Wednesday morning to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament but he is expected to be ready for the opener of the 2013 NFL regular season, according to team sources familiar with the determination made by orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews.

The ACL was diagnosed late Tuesday as a complete tear of the patella graft that was used to repair his torn ACL suffered at Baylor in 2009. A team source said Dr. Andrews likely will use a patella graft from Griffin's other knee to repair the most recent tear.

Griffin's recovery is projected at six-to-eight months, barring any setbacks, sources said. The rehabilitation plan will primarily focus on Griffin's quadriceps strength that will protect and help stabilize the knee, according to sources. The reconstruction surgery of the LCL is considered a complication but sources said Dr. Andrews informed the Redskins that it should rehab well during the same six-to-eight month time frame as the ACL injury.

Under this projected time frame of surgery, recovery and rehab, if Griffin suffers no setbacks then the rookie quarterback should be able to participate at some level during training camp in August and be ready to open the season in September, according to the sources.

Well, he's going to go down as some kind of legend who had an amazing rookie season and was just never able to get back to the same level

Especially if he's given the Rookie of the Year award.

Re: Update: RGIII to undergo total reconstruction surgery, should be ready for '13 season

Griffin doesn't really have to do the stuff he was doing this year. He is a great passer and even if he doesn't have the same level of athleticism he's still going to be able to throw the ball. A lot of things Kyle Shanahan had him doing this year were just unnecessarily risky. The dude will do just fine in a conventional drop back offense. Now it's not like you don't want him to be able to blow away defenders who are chasing him when he needs to, but this isn't Michael Vick we're talking about. The guy is a damned good QB.
