Yeah I'm to confident in hiring an OC who had his play changed at the line of scrimmage every play.

Statistically, Manning has had the best regular season since 2005 when he had actually been trending downwards for a number of years (albeit at a very high level). He also helped get the most out of Tebow last season and Kyle Orton had a couple of decent seasons the two years prior.

why not Norv Turner was a great OC and that worked out pretty good...

I don't know anything about him but he can't be worse than Norv, so based off that alone, this is a good hire.
