No high schoolers means no more excuses...........players stock will drop
Okay this is something that is being brought up in conversations. The NBA Draft is going back in time really. In the 80's players were picked on how they performed on the court and their size (Power Forwards/Centers were, are, and will always be picked over wing players and points) but then the high schoolers started to become the in thing to do and KG was picked and yeah his first year wasn't the greatest in the world (10.4 points six boards) but everyone said wait he will be a star and now he is probably the second best player in the league (Duncan first) But there has also been players like Rudy Gay who coming out of high school (and last year) would have been the *potential* pick and now his stock is dropping by performing in college. Now my question is will this happen to some of the high schoolers like Greg Oden and O.J. Mayo these are guys who people here are calling the second coming and all of that but what would Oden be able to do against Duke. Oden is averaging 19 points in high school but do he will be able to do that agains Mcroberts next year. . Basically I am asking do you think that the *potential* excuse for drafting a player will be diminished now that high schoolers are not available?

well tts why mayo and walker are considering going to prep school instead of college to prevent hurting their stock.

The NCAA will change their stock, and you might not be able to get him if you don't have a high pick.

Bad players stock will drop, good players stock will rise.

If I'm an NBA exec and someone goes to Prep School, I ask myself:
Why is he afraid to play against the best players in his age group? Going to Prep School instead of school shows ALOT about someone's makeup...and its NOT a positive choice.

Are you saying if Greg Oden went to prep school he wouldnt be drafted first? I think if a player is talented enough and recruited highly in high school he will still be drafted very high despite going to prep school.

It's true. Oden's will be lucky to go in the first round after being exposed in the NCAA.

I'm saying that I question his character, confidence and desire. Does that mean I don't draft him? No. Does that mean he has a red flag on his report card. Yes.
When you bring the kid in for an interview and you ask him the question:
"Why did you not go to college for 1 year".
I can't think of an answer that would satisfy me.

For Oden he isnt a great offensive player and is on a great team, so he isnt gonna score a ton because first the game is only 32 minutes and second they probably blow everyone out anyways.
