Divac is old. Why would the Lakers want him?

- Payton picked up his option, and therefore it doesn't count against the Lakers' ability to use the MLE this summer. He is guaranteed back assuming Mitch doesn't trade him.
- Malone opted out for two reasons 1) He's not sure his knee will heal 100% and 2) he is eligible for MLE money, which he was promised last summer for signing for the LLE back then. Malone will get the MLE if he doesn't retire.
- You CANNOT use the LLE in consecutive seasons. Lakers used it last year for Malone. I believe there are no exceptions to this rule, but I'm not 100% sure about that.
LMAO! Read the thread again, I clearly clarified my original post by saying that one pick AND Caron was more likely than two picks and Caron. But I guess since I didn't have sources at ESPN, I should have been wrong huh?

This should just be more bump material for me then huh?
The point was.....you can never be illogical by going by what media outlets report as facts. If the FACTS are wrong, then the only problem is with the person who is reporting them as FACTS on a media outlet.
Somewhere I got mixed up into thinking that Payton opted out and then took the MLE back. It's my bad.

I know, I thought the same thing for a second, before realizing the sad truth that there are so few good big men FAs that Vlade at 36 years old (maybe older in reality) is probably one of the best big men available. Though, this past season was real bad for him, his age and lack of conditioning is really catching up with him. I wouldn't want him in a playoff rotation more than 15 mpg a game, max.

How so? You mean if the trade ends up being Odom, Grant, Caron and no draft pick instead?

One or two other media outlets were reporting Odom, Grant, Butler and a pick when ESPN was reporting Odom, Grant, and either Butler or a pick. So there was that, and the fact that we're talking about trading Shaq and not some stiff, and is why I believed the terms were tweakable. Plus, we're talking about Riley here, a person who has always preached the need for a big man, and a person who wouldn't let a deal like that die over a draft pick.

Heats are idiots? The just got themselves a few championships coming in the near future. The Miami fans shoud be partying all over South Beach with this trade. The fakers are the ones who are idiots for putting their franchise in the hands of Mr Overrated jordan wannabe ballhogging Rapist Bryant. They will suffer like Orlando did when they let Shaq leave.

He even guarded Shaq and Yao well, holding his own defensively when we faced them. Also did well against Jermaine in the second round, even when injured

Yes grant is a good defender for his size, but he is no where near the rebounder he used to be. Now statistics arent the be all and end all to a players quality but lets use it to measure the amounts of rebounds he gathers.
6.9 rebounds in 30 minutes of action. To me that isnt a decent rebounder. And dont factor in rebounds per 48 minutes, grant simply cant play a whole game anymore, and hes not as tenacious on the boards anymore.
Haslem rebounded 6.3 boards in a limited 23 minutes. seems like hes better on the boards.

When Wade is coming into his own Shaq will be old and fat (more so then now). Eddie Jones is deffinately going to be WAY out of his glory days (possiblly not even on the team anymore) when Wade is surging. Haslem has shown flashes but he's terriblly inconsistant to this point. Now, they'll capture their disgraceful division for years probablly but they will NOT be able to compete with the Pistons. If I'm proven wrong and this team ends up in the finals they will not beat the Kings, T-Wolves, Rockets (Yao- Approaching Prime, T-Mac-Prime>>>>>Shaq-Declining, Wade-Still Adjusting).
Caron, Wade, Odom, Haslem, and Wright could've grown up together and hit their primes around the same time, making them a definate Championship condender down the road. Just a huge mistake by the Heat management.
On top of all of this they lost a first rounder. Ouch.

Dead on. Eddie Jones isn't Eddie Jones he's a a shell.
Also, without Caron to do the dirty work Wade won't be as effective. LO and CB space the floor out, now Wade has to fight through double teams, and traps all the time, he has to create offense as well as set it up, you're asking to much of him IMO.

I choose to fail the quizz because a pathetic 21 years old Baby Shaq LMAO only grabbed 6.2 rebounds? For a Centre? Sure Vlade only grabbed 5.7 a game but A 21 years old Curry only grabbed 6.2 rebounds? And all the negative intangibles(The sux man to man defense, the pathetic interior defense) didnt show on the boxscore as well.
Eddy Curry is so pathetic.

Eddy Jones was pathetic to begin with. The guy in his prime was a great role player. A player can put up 20 points a game on a team but first round playoff exit all the time.

i dissagree, yes he wasnt as super offensively as some star guards, but thats not why i considered him a star. Eddie Jones was one of those unique guards, who could defend as well as he could score. Name the guards that had eddies scoring talents or better, who also could be nominated for DPOY. Thats some good names to be mentioned with.
Thats what separated Eddie from the stackhouses, and the steve smith's etc, he could play terriffic defense and score.

And very conveniently You forget to post the stat, that makes Vlade stand out from the other big men in the league. His assists indicate, that he is one of the premier passing big men in the league. Plus he has the experience, that is going to be needed on a team, that plays Rush, Walton and Coom for extended minutes.
Vlade would be a great pick up with the MLE if Malone does not come back.

Or name me role players that can defend as good as he was? Tons, Alvin Williams, Aaron Mackie, Dough Christe, and Bruce Bowen.
Okay back to his offense, if his offensive isnt as good as those can be a first option on a great to championship team, I dont want his offense at all. Sure I want hom on my team if he doesnt take shots at all, but you think he is willing to play like a scrub offrensively.
There are things you kids need to consider. We want wins, we dont just want talents on paper.
