OT: Odom #3 paid player

Lamar Odom will be doing pretty well financially if the rumored trade to LA goes down.

[My best guess on numbers follows]

In 2003-04, his base salary was $7.796 million. In addition, he was paid a signing bonus of $13.000 million

Because of the trade kicker in his contract, if he's traded, Odom will make $8.144 million as a base salary and will get a $8.256 million payment as a result of the trade kicker.

That's $37.196 million that he will have made in two seasons. Only Shaq and Garnett make more money over that same two year period.

Odoms a solid player in the east but he cant play centre in the west, eg - Yao is like 8 inches bigger than him and the other centres are 7 foot plus and stronger. he seems to be a lil bit overrated.

Is the thought that Odom is to Pippen what Kobe is to Jordan? Understanding that I in no way believe that either player is near their Bull counterpart, it seems like LA is looking to build their team around the superstar SG and Point Forward that the Bulls did. I wonder if Kutshaq has contacted Wennington for an assistant coach position.

i was talking to a friend about this heat trade, and the first thing he says is Odom's going straight back to his dealer in LA. I don't think smoking pot is that big of a deal, but for a pro athlete it is different and you've got to admit Odom's play in miami had a lot to do with the change in scenery, i think going back to LA might end up hurting him quite a bit.

if he gets caught toking up as the 3rd highest paid player in the league, it will speak volumes about his lack of self-control.

then again, if he feels alienated by kobe he might decide it don't matter if he gets high, its not like he's getting the ball right?
