Ideal team right now? I'd take that team in Detroit, move them to Boston and put some green jerseys on them - don't think anyone can argue with the world champs.

I would make a point to have a huge, strong C and a huge strong PF to base my team around. My center only needs to be a Dampier type player if I can have an Elton Brand/Webber type PF. So at all times if a basket is needed our team can have a good chance of getting a bucket or a tough rebound on every single play.
After that I would want my 1, 2, and 3 to be at least average 3 point shooters. Now we WILL not be shooting 20 a game. but just enough to make the other team pay for having to pay to much attention to my bigs.
I do not want TMacs or Kobe Bryant, players that could probobly play the 1, 2, or 3 just fine and want to do it all. My 1, 2, and 3 will have set jobs that they will do their best at. I'll have a Gerald Wallace type 3 who could help our team run and gun as well as really put a hurt on the opposing teams REbounding (though I'd miss the 3pters). Or I could just as easily have a Wally Z who will always be able to hit the open jumper formed from the opposition doubling down on my bigs. My 2 would be a Rip Hamilton player. A shooting guard doesn't need to be able to dunk hard or throw no looks, he has to shoot. And that 's Rip does, he shoots and he makes baskets. That's his job and he may be the most reiable in the NBA at it. For my Point guard I don't want jason kidd even though he would hurt. But I don't want a PG running up and down the court too much making my 4, and 5 tired. I'd want a Sam Cassel, another shoooter who will hit the open jumper but who knows his job is to get it to the 4, and 5 in the post 1st. That's about right
Eric Dampier
Elton Brand
Wally Z/Tayshaun Prince
Rip Hamilton
Sam Cassel
now some people might not think that's the best group of players but their chemistry will be unmatched.
If I have a Tayshaun or Wally at the 3 then I'd need a Gerald Wallace or Desomnd Mason coming off the bench to give us a spark of energy and who can rebound, play D, and do the little things when other players are tired.
For those who missed it on the other thread

Mine.
CE: Tim Duncan/Kelvin Cato/
PF: Kenny Thomas/Brian Skinner/
SF: Tayshuan Prince/Bruce Bowen/
SG: Michael Redd/Marquis Daniels/
PG: Mike James/Lindsey Hunter/
Monster D. Monster rebounding. Redd will get many good looks with Duncan inside. Hunter and James can run good defense from PGg, and bring the ball up to Duncan which is all I need. The team can shoot as well, with Prince who'll take those open ones, Redd, who's one of the best shooters in the league. They'll get plenty as well, with Duncan. Basically, this team would go VERY well if it were to replace the Spurs suddenly.

If I couldn't get a superstar big, I would get a penetrating point guard and try to surround him with shooters who will play D, rebound, and in general just play smart team basketball. Might not be a championship team, but not everyone can have a Duncan or Shaq.
PG - Dwyane Wade/Earl Watson
SG - James Posey/Raja Bell
SF - Peja Stojakovic/Toni Kukoc
PF - Troy Murphy/David West
C - Rasho Nesterovic (Brad Miller would be the ideal)/Mark Blount
