Will the NBA ever change its ways re: officiating?
Everybody here knows that a travel has not been called regularly in the NBA since Bush sr. was in the oval office. The NBA loves its entertainment value, it loves the hand checking, it loves the travelling, especially if the final result is someone getting posterised.
This is all well and good.
But...
As a result of the Italy loss EDIT: Should say "If team USA performs poorly, and fails to win a medal", will the NBA decide to change its rules at all to accomodate the International game?
will the NBA look at
1) getting rid of defensive 3 seconds
2) actually calling travels ( I didn't see the game, but according to what I've read on espn.com team USA was called for plenty of them).
things of that nature.
So,
is it a case of
1) the american public cares more about the NBA than they do about team USA winning gold, thus the NBA will never change.
2) there is nothing to worry about, the only reason team USA lost is because this team is packed with second stringers.
3) the NBA will wise up and change rules, regardless of wether its for International competitive reasons, or because the NBA itself would benefit from more fundamental basketball.
4) other

I would like to see travelling and palming called (from the NBA down to biddy basketball).
People can't tell me because we call travelling now, that we won't get flashy dunks. They can still happen without travelling. The players will adjust.
However, I get pissed, because they don't call moving screens in the NBA and they are always moving. This needs to be fixed immediately.

It depends which is bigger to the NBA: Officiating in 1330 games per season or getting Team USA ready for the Olympics once every fouryears for a couple of games.

I don't agree with that.
Travelling is one of the most basic things in the rule books to learn. If the refs call it, the players won't do it anymore.
Although, I do agree that the Olympics seems to be for some wanting to brag about their supposed superiority over another.
I still won't be watching the Olympics win or lose, because it doesn't affect my NBA watching (as long as no one gets injured).

My bad, I guess instead of saying "because of the loss to Italy", I should have said "If team USA basketball fails to win a medal"

Most of those travelling calls were not travelling at all.

dido
they called d wade for travelling on two consecutive plays and neither was a travel .
these officials think that a jump stop or a move out of the tripple threat is a travel. These officials just need to get up to date on todays moves before they just whistle a travel.

They called LeBron for traveling and he got fouled and dunked it... They called it traveling, took the bucket away, the foul away, and then they hit a three...

It was obvious that the referees hated us, however, I thought all their traveling calls were correct. Unfortunetly, they didnt call it both ways, I saw a couple travels by Italy that were let go.
