MINNY gets SAR for WAlly (RUMOR)
(NOte: This was reported by a guy who claims inside sources, but I have not seen anything reported to back it up yet) Min. finally got another dependable low post scorer, but they gave up their former all star to do it.
Evidently they are willing to ride sprewell into the sunset, which I think is very short-term thinking considering his age; how many swingmen (known for their speed and slashing) contribute until 35 and beyond?
MJ and?
Anyway, This is undenyably another upgrade for minny, though they will be small in the frontcourt with garnett and SAR, essentially 2 pf's.
The question now is does minny end up playing big or small in the front court.
I think they can get away with small with shaq out of the conference; garnett lacks the bulk to guard centers, so that will have to fall on SAR I guess?
Or will the lineup look like this?
olawakandi
sar
garnett
spree
cassell?
That would be HUGE lineup. Garnett is fast enough to play sf, it could be done...

Okay, this is a good trade except for two factors:
1) SAR is being traded because he wants to be a starting PF; here he'd either be coming off the bench behind KG or starting at SF.
2) If they did decide to cater to SAR, he'd be starting at PF; Garnett would then be the starting center, which he's very much opposed to.
I guess they could run this lineup with everyone being kinda happy:
C: Olowokandi?
PF: SAR
SF: Garnett
SG: Sprewell
PG: Cassell

If this does happen, I think it's a nice upgrade for the Wolves and not a bad deal for the Blazers. SAR played bad for the Blazers last season and every knows that he wanted out, so they got a nice SG/SF for him in Wally.
Wolves:
C- Whoever they want
PF- SAR
SF- Garnett
SG- Spree
PG-Cassell

KG should be the PF. Compare 00-01 and 01-02 to 02-03 and 03-04.
I'm not so sure about a 3.5 with KG. He damn well better bring a rebounding and defense mindset if he costs a shooter.

Where is source?? As a Blazer bleeder, I want to know the source.
It has been rumored all day on the Blazers board. Blazer fans are split on whether they like it or not. Kind of like Bush/Kerry its not split near the middle. Either they hate Wally or they like his potential addition.

This deal is not official yet. Just a rumor, as of now.
Deal would help Blazers and the Wolves, sorta.
KG would play the PF and Trenton Hassell the SF. Shareef would be coming off the bench and play some C once in a while. While Wally would force teams to guard him and not double Zach so much.
BUT, this is only a rumor, not a trade...just a rumor.

PG - Cassell/Hudson
SG - Sprewell/Hassell
SF - Garnett/Hoiberg
PF - Abdur-Rahim/Garnett
C - 5 headed monster

Fortson also said "he wouldn't doubt it" if there were a gay player in the NBA but hopes he's not a Sonic.
"That would be a bad deal," Fortson said. "He might want to keep that one in the closet."

He didn't do anything worth noting off the bench.

Spree is as good of a three point shooter as Wally is. I think they are right to deal him, Wally looked really lost in there game plan alot, though he did hustle his *** of on the court.
Wolves should make sure they have hudson locked up before they think of doing this.
