Have the Celtics joined the Nets?
Has Boston joined the Nets as teams that have made offseason moves to put themselves right out of the playoffs and into the very bottom echelon of the Eastern Conference.
Banks won't help the Lakers as much as Laker sympathizers think, BUT he definitely doesn't suck, and in Boston he was key because he was really all they had at PG. I mean what do you have now? Payton and Vujacic like the Lakers HAD? No....you have Payton and nobody.
Again......Mihm isn't that good BUT based on what the Celtics had he was pretty key because now you look behind Mark Blount and you see Kendrick Perkins, who is FAR less ready at 19 than Eddy Curry was at 18.
Al Jefferson can be compared to Amare all he wants.....he's a POOR MAN's Amare at best, and even Amare had a slew of very talented veterans around him.
This team may be very good in 3 years.....as that SEEMS to be where Ainge is pointing as far as having a young talented team with cap flexibility (the results should start to come in fall 2006, BUT right now this team reminds me of my Bulls when Jalen Rose joined.......Pierce and a bunch of young guys who will take 3 years to find their game and fit in. Of course Pierce is better than Rose was, but Curry, Chandler and Crawford were better than Perkins, Jefferson and ummm......
By virtue of the BAD moves of teams like the Nets, Celtics and Cavs what you'll have is these teams as shoe-ins:
Detroit
Miami
Indiana
Philadelphia
Milwaukee
With these teams fighting for the final three spots, with two spots opened due to the bad moves of Boston and New Jersey:
New York
Washington
Chicago
Cleveland
Toronto

I resent your comments about New Jersey. They had to make those moves. They could not have 3 near MAX players on their team and another dangerously close to it. The extension of RJ and signings of WIlliams and Mercer rpove that this team does want to win. I still think they will win their divison.

You are crazy
Boston has helped themselves alot this offseason.
Banks may turn out to be a very good point guard but so far he has been very inconsistent offensively.
Gary Payton is a future hall of famer. Even with Shaq and Kobe and the triangle offense that is not right for him he was able to score 15 points per game.
Jefferson is no poor man's Amare.
West and Allen will contribute immediatley.
Boston has more cap flexability next season to boot.
Boston will be much improved this year.

I don't see why everyone has jumped on the Phila bandwagon. Iverson doesn't look like half the player he used to be. I see them having trouble even making the playoffs.

The Nets will win their division?
The signings of Williams and Mercer just prove that NJ wants to lose, not win.
Sorry to have to break it to you like this.

LOL even Magic said "it's not the triangle....when you can't hit a wide open jumper it doesn't matter if you're running the triangle or a 1-4....."
Payton is what.....36? He is DONE. To have GP on your team you need a big-time young backup. If GP was being backed up by Ben Gordon I'd STILL have my doubts.

Boston is a deep team, except in the rebounding department. If Payton doesn't work, Doc loves the big point and Welsch can play the point for 25 mpg. They'll still have PP, Davis, Allen, McCarty, Jones on the wings. Down low is mostly Raef, Blount, Jefferson, Perkins, and Waltah (hopefully not though). I have concerns if Jefferson and West can turn up. Allen is a plus, I think he was a steal. But West is needed to be the backup and Jefferson to provide post scoring and rebouding, which if he can't do, hopefully Perkins can. I think it really hinges on the production of the youngsters.

And I could easily say I resent the statement that you just made as well. That is a ridiculous statement bar none. LOL at him being half the player he used to be. Hes running the PG spot now and thinking along with being a shade slower than what he used to be. Being a step slower does not equate to being half the player he was.

Boston wasn't going to make the playoffs anyway. The Nets will be out, but Washington and Philadelphia/Toronto will be back in.
