Prophetic. The rest of the thread followed it up perfectly. Lets just face it, some Heat fans will never give Melo his props.

Melo is a fantastic scorer, he will be a top 5 scorer in the league next season. He is excellent at taking the ball to the rack, he was one of the best players in the league at drawing contact last season. That was as a rookie, and rookies arent usually as aggressive as they want to be in their first season.

Melo is more like Paul Pierce, except Melo is better off the ball so he can co-exist within the system of a winning team. Melo will end up having a real smooth three point shot if he continues to work as hard as he does, and in the olympics he has shown he is an excellent passer.

Realistically, he'll never end up being a great defender. He just doesnt have the lateral quickness. However, I think he'll improve his timing and instincts to become an average defender. I've already seen a lot of progress in his defense during the olympics. He is hungry to improve and get better.

Prediction for next season: 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists. Nuggets will be one of the best teams in the league. Melo will only be 20. Lets face it, Melo is a special player, and denying that is foolish IMO.

i hope Melo plays more unselfish next season...cuz Denver is gonna suck if he leads them in shot attempts and turnovers like he is on Team USA

I should respect a player who

1. Whines about not being an all star. Calls out coaches who didint pick him and disses the best sf in the game, AK47, who rightfully made it

2. Whines about not being picked to the Olympic team. They were going to pick Redd, but after his "Dont nothing include Melo" tantrum, he got picked on the team. Way to go, Melo

3. Whines about not getting the ball enough in one game, and quits on his team. Face it, it happened. I know only once, but I dont give young players free passes in instances like that

I respect what he does on the court, hes a great scorer, but off the court he may be the most arrogant and disrespectful player in the league, as a rookie. I defintly dont respect that.

Also I think Wade will be better than him.

Me hating his attitude and me thinking Wade will be better doesnt mean i hate him because im just a jealous heat fan. No, im just a fan with an opinion. Im allowed to hate a player who calls out other players and teammates, who whines and disses other players in the media. It has nothing to do with jealousy or me knowing Carmelo is better, because I think otherwise. Plain and simple.

5. One of four players in NBA history to have at least 30 points and 12 assists in three consecutive games (November 24-27, 2006). The others are Oscar Robertson, Nate Archibald, and Kevin Johnson. [5]

If you're going to try to play the "I shouldnt have to have respect for Melo" angle, atleast dont sound bias in the process by completely twisting your supporting reasons to the point where they are lies.

Ignorance of facts makes for ignorant opinions.

One question - did Denver suck last year?

angle? Ive been saying the same thing for a while. I could find at least 2 threads where I have said basically the same thing. It aint a angle. I just dont like whiners.

And wheres the lie. He refused to play the last part of a game because he wanted to shoot more one game, and his team was down. He was pissed at his pg for not getting him his shots

cmon, u could like Melo all u want, but I dont have to respect a player that whines, and disses many people. I said I respect what he does on the court, I just cant stand what he does off of it

As you have said multiple times, u like a player with an attitude. Who says what he feels and just isnt all nice and at all times respectful to the competition. Thats your preference, not mine

If you search for a board called "jazzfans" on the internet, you'll see some posters are so embittered that they even talk about wanting Iraqi suicide bombers to blow Melo to pieces. These guys are also jokes.
I don't hate the Nuggets for beating the Jazz. But I detest Melo because he is a classless punk in this league. First he cries like a little girl (which oddly enough, the look fits for him as well) about AK making the all star team over him, even though Kirilenko is by far the more complete player than Melo will ever hope to be. Then there is this whole thing today where he mocks the ref. Yeah, way to represent the US moron.

A player should not be crucified over isolated events. When the behavior becomes habitual, the counter argument of the event being a "fluke" is erased and we are left with a slam dunk argument. Should a person forever hate Wade today for getting a technical and slapping away his teammates who tried to console him? Imagine how annoying it would be for Heat fans to see that pop up in every Wade discussion the way that incident pops up in every Melo discussion. Then you'd know what Nuggets fans have been feeling like all this time.

Why can't all three players be good. For my bet Wade, Melo, and James are the future of the league. They are excellent players who do well. They all need to make improvements in their games somewhere but all are excellent players.
