They can still land Dampier, and may trade for Peja...

Well, he knew to stay out of the way and let the Xs and Os guys (Carlisle) teach, while Larry did a good job of substituting and controlling minutes during games and he got the most out of guys like Croshere. IMO he was a great coach even if he didn't have the tools most coaches do.

I dont think the Pacers need a huge change. They already have that franchise player in Jermaine. Maybe if they land Dampier or Peja then it would be a good move for Bird.

To get Shaq he was going to have to give up JO. It was smart to be conservative in that. Not sure what the T-Mac deal was going to be. Peja isn't finished yet, and I bet he probably is willing to give up Artest.
I think he's been pretty smart.

I don't think the Pacers are going to win any championships w/ Anthony Johnson starting.

Same could be said for all the other teams in the L that didn't get those 3 players...

Tinsley is starting, and he's great for our system. He is one of the best pass-first guards in the league, and he is a wonderful playmaker. He also has a very servicable three point shot, and some driving ability. There are very few point guards I would want in Indiana besides Tinsley.

We would have to given away half our team for Shaq, and we don't really want Peja if we have to trade Artest, so it's not that big of a let down. T-Mac would be great, but it's not like Al Harrington/Jonathan Bender/Fred Jones is a better offer than the Rocket's.

I thought Pacer management said they were offering Artest/Harring and another player for Tmac? Maybe I recall wrong though.
