There's no guarantees he's going to win it if he signs with the Spurs, but if he feels his knee will hold up, I bet he sticks around.
If it was about pride he would have retired after leaving Utah, so I'm guessing it all rides on his health.

Well, I for one don't get the "old man Malone needs to retire" point of view. He's still more than serviceable (assuming he recovers 100%, and all indications are that he will) and he's a fantastic passer. Even if he's only playing 20 minutes a night they will be 20 effective minutes.
Pop said if Malone signs with the Spurs, he will rest him for the first half of the season and slowly incorporate him into the lineup so he'll be at his best for the playoff stretch. That sounds like an nice plan to me and is a win/win for both parties.
this is stupid, u can't have a pole where the options are "retire" and "win a championship". there are no sure shot champs. just look at the lakers last year!
I think Karl should come to Miami--but I can understand his reasoning in San Antonio.
He'd backup Haslem and play most of the post minutes off the bench. It'd give us a pretty good shot at Detroit, as good as anyone else atleast, and anything can happen once you're in the Finals.
Karl has a nice jumper, so I think he would see that he fits well in Miami with Shaq in the middle.

this isn't a pete rose situation, hanging on, hurting his team, for a quest at a record. this is a guy playing because teams want his services, and think he can help them. he should play as long as he wants to as long as there's a roster spot for him somewhere.
