Kobe Bryant.

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

I voted T-mac. I just got a feeling he's gonna explode this year. I know that sounds weird considering he's already one of the top 5 or 6 players in the league. But this will be by far and away the best supporting cast he's ever had. To go along with the best coach he's ever had.

I'll say Jermaine O'neal. He's been in the league long enough and has paid his dues. Also, he was the premier center in the east (besides Big Ben and now besides Shaq) and is the clear team-MVP on a championship-caliber team. He leads by example on and off the court and has the respect of the league, fans, and media. As a bonus, he says that his body is getting stronger this off-season most especially because he's finally taking a rest instead of having to compete in international games as in previous summers.

Kobe has the best chance out of all those people. If the Lakers end up with a good record, make hte playoffs as a decent seed (as in not fighting for an 8th spot) I think he should deserve the MVP.

Tracy McGrady because he is already one the top 5 or 6 players in the league like someone above me stated already. Now he has the best supporting cast of players, best coach, and best big man he has had since his career began. Behind him, I'll say prolly Kobe. He's followed closely by Yao Ming and Jermaine O'Neal.

Yao finished Friday's game with 27 points, 22 rebounds and five blocked shots, becoming the first NBA player to reach 20 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks in a game since Shaquille O'Neal did it last March against the Bucks. Only Moses Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon had done it with the Rockets, and the last time Olajuwon did it was Feb. 10, 1993.

the MVP award goes to the Most Valuable Player. Tmac was a top 5 player last year, that doesn't mean he deserved the award.
I can't see Tmac winning if he has Yao playing alongside of him, beacuse that lightens the burden of carrying the team, whereas Kobe has to step and lead the Lakers somewhere. He has more to prove, and if he actually does something season, I don't think there should be any doubt that he should be a MVP candidate.
