Whose stock drops through the floor in 2004-2005?
Gary Payton. Antoine Walker. Nick Van Exel. Glenn Robinson. Jamal Mashburn. Jerry Stackhouse. Kurt Thomas. Ricky Davis. Tim Thomas.
These are some of the players that drastically lost value over last season (feel free to debate these choices or add more, although that's not the main point of the thread).
Which players will be placed in similar situations in 2004-2005?

Darius Miles. I for one think that he started living up to his potential a little bit at the end of last season because his contract was up, not for any other reason. He's still yet to sign anywhere, but regardless of whether he's back in Portland or somewhere else, I think he'll prove to be overpaid despite not getting the money he was initially looking for. I think he's going to revert to his old ways and show that his play in Portland wasn't for real, it was just to get a bigger contract.

I like MJG's two (particularly Finley, who will become the most grossly overpaid player in the league once Houston's contract is up in two years, making 18.5 million as a 35 year old), plus Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Erick Dampier and Brian Skinner.

While I hate to say it, I agree with Kidd's stock dropping hard next season. He's coming off the same surgery guys like Webber, Houston, Hardaway, and Mashburn had. He has a much less athletic supporting cast. He is at the beginning of a huge contract. He's probably unhappy. I think his weaknesses are going to be exposed next season and he has all of the ingredients of majorly jumping the shark.
one I was thinking about as I wrote this -- Jason Terry. Not a sure thing, but there's a real threat of his stock falling. After a less productive season in Atlanta, he now has to deal with alot more scrutiny and pressure. He has to deal with a highly drafted rook nipping at his heels. He has to deal with another young gun who can handle the ball. He no longer has the quiet playground of Atlanta to produce stats in. I think this could be a difficult year for him.
i'll think of some more as I work.

A few of the big guys could be a bit exposed - Kobe, Shaq, and McGrady. Can't see their stock plummeting, but they each are in very different situations now and which could go either way. I like the Derek Fisher pick, he will be a worse Tyronn Lue, I imagine.
