Who plays PF for Boston? I envision both LaFrentz and Blount starting at the 4/5 spots.

Etan Thomas led all bench players in rebounds, dunks, and was 2nd in blocked shots. I would put him as a top 3 backup C.

Toronto will play center by committee so expect their primary backup-Moiso, Woods, or Araujo- to do quite well. BTW, I doubt the primary backup will be Woods.

Orlando has a decent backup guy in Battie.

Rockets will backup Yao with Howard I would guess. Think Badiane will be ready for Van Gundy minutes?

For backups, it's really not that bad of a group.

Nene should start at C

Baker is a good back up center

Ramos will do some things this year too

Amazing. There's a guy named prjose that was saying just about the same thing a couple days ago.

Jason Collier is underrated IMO. People don't realise he averaged 11.3 pgg last season in 20 games for the Hawks. He may even start over Drobnjak this year.

I would remove Pollard from the list of decent backups. He was awful last year.

I see your point, because he did have a miserable year, and his last year in Sacramento he was injured almost all season.

I'm don't know that he ever got a real shot in Indiana, though. Remember, he was traded, then six weeks later Carlisle became coach. Guys who can play, at least a little, have been known to rot in situations like that. And with David Harrison on board, I don't see him getting any minutes this year, either.

But for three years, he was one of the better back-ups around. If the Pacers traded him to Houston, or whoever, he might bounce back in new surroundings.

Either he was going to conquer nation-states all the way from Athens to India, engraving his name in history, or he was going to wind up running a club called Oedi***** on the wrong end of Mykonos. "

For this upcoming season -- Nene, Raef LaFrentz, Etan Thomas, Stromile Swift. There must be more, but there's a starter list of some solid ones.
Raef will probably start...

Quote:
I'm going to make some adjustments to Damian's list:

EASTERN CONFERENCE
Orlando Magic: Tony Battie(DeClercq is behind Battie)
Chicago Bulls: Antonio Davis(Mutombo is behind Davis)
Washington Wizards: Etan Thomas(Haywood starts)
Atlanta Hawks: Jason Collier
Philadelphia 76ers: Brian Skinner(Skinner will backup PF and C)
Toronto Raptors: Loren Woods
Cleveland Cavaliers: DeSagana Diop
Boston Celtics: Raef LaFrentz(Perkins is back there)
New York Knicks: Vin Baker
Mikwaukee Bucks: Daniel Santiago
New Orleans Hornets: Chris Andersen
Miami Heat: Michael Doleac
Detroit Pistons: Elden Campbell
New Jersey Nets: Nenad Krstic
Indiana Pacers: Scot Pollard

WESTERN CONFERENCE
Los Angeles Clippers: Zeljko Rebraca
Phoenix Suns: Steven Hunter
Seattle Supersonics: Jerome James
Golden State Warriors: Dale Davis
Portland Trailblazers: Vladimir Stepania
Utah Jazz: Jarron Collins
Denver Nuggets: Francisco Elson
Houston Rockets: ______?
Memphis Grizzlies: ______?
Dallas Mavericks: Calvin Booth
Sacramento Kings: Greg Ostertag
San Antonio Spurs: Sean Marks
Los Angeles Lakers: Chris Mihm
Minnesota Timberwolves: Michael Olowokandi
That's more accurate, but I believe Raef will start (as mentioned above, so probably Jefferson or Perkins), Moiso will be primary backup for Raptors, Dice for Pistons, Taylor (or any of their undersized PF's) for the Rockets, Swift for Grizz (even though he's undersized), and Duncan for the Spurs (playing Rose/Horry at PF).
