Why I don't consider Steve Nash or Eddy Naraja foreign players

I do not consider either of them foreign players, as well as Rick Fox or Jamaal Magloire, because they played college ball in the US. From what I read on this site, there are 3 types of players in the NBA: foreign players (Dirk and Peja; drafted from their respective countries), high school players (TMac and KG; drafted from highschool), or college players (Shaq or Duncan; drafted from an American college).

So the next time someone thinks that they're original by putting up a College vs. High School vs. Foreign thread, remember Magloire, Nash, and Naraja went to Kentucky, UC-Santa Clara, and Oklahoma.

I don't think most people consider them foreign players, not in the same was as Peja and Dirk and such. The three groups -- HS, college, foreign -- describe where you came from when you were drafted. It's not the technical definition most likely, but it's what most people probably think. At least that's how I've always thought of it.

They're not foreign because the NBA is not an exclusively american league. It's 1/30th canadian!

What about Darius Songaila? He is Lithuanian and played at Wake Forest.

Canada should be our state.

Like my original post says, he's a college player, not a foreign player.

Songalia All-Star in 05!

If a person grew up on their respective countries and learned how to play basketball there and decided to play on a US college team, shouldnt they still be a considered foreign players? They already knew how to play basketball and they learned it in there countries, they just upgraded their game to go to a US college.
