Personally, I think the Kings have been out of the title race since they lost to the Lakers in 02. Who thought they could beat the Spurs or Lakers in 03? Who thought they could beat the Wolves or Lakers or Spurs in 04? Anyone?
I thought they'd blow up that team after what happened this last playoffs.

Even though I thought the Wolves were the better team, I still think the Kings could have beaten the Wolves. It was a very close series.

Twolves-Kings: T-Wolves +5
Nuggets-Lakers : Lakers +3
Jazz-Suns : Equal =
Blazers-Warriors : Blazers +2
Sonics-Clippers : Sonices +1
So the definite advantage is the northwest division. However, i am slightly confused as to how people believe the Nuggets will be better than the Lakers. Obviously there were some major changes in the off season for both teams, but they wern't so substanstial as to make the Nuggets that much better than the Lakers.

Coaching is a major advantage to LA and the benches are about the same.

whos the main 4-5 guys off the lakers bench?

On paper the two teams may look similar but i don't really think that Denver is really at the same level as the lakers. A motivated kobe bryant, out to prove that he survive on his own will not let his team be bad and in my opinion i dont believe the nuggets will perfom to te high expecations set on them. Personally i believe they are extremely overated.

we got that motivation thing going too.
nice try though.

Nuggets are sort of that wild card team this year. For that matter, so are the Lakers. I dunno, still pretty difficult to say how either team will do. I'll wait until after the first couple weeks of the regular season to draw some conclusions.

Yeah, they could have won, that series, but they still would have had to go through LA just to get to the finals. Who thought the Kings were a legit title contender in the last two years? Anyone? They peaked in 02, but didn't come through.

Oh no, I know exactly what you're saying. In fact, I wouldn't be in the least surprised if the Nuggets finish 4th seed in the West and make the WCSF, or even the WCF. But since the West is so wide open this season, I get the feeling that the teams that can win 50 games (Spurs, Twolves, Kings, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Lakers, Mavs) might not win 50 because of how deep the West now is. Heck, then we have the Jazz and Suns....just such a wide open West this year.
