I'm tellin ya, Haywood's offensive game has looked pretty good in pre-season. We play you guys in the 5th game. Watch Haywood that game.
Edit to add- This is a tired conversation that I've had before with another Magic fan. For that, I'm bailing out of this thread and never coming back.

Cato is lazy and unmotivated, Battie is a quality backup, Declerq and Garrity both suck, and Howard is a rookie who will probably be inconsistent. The Magic have absolutely no low post scoring. At SF you have Turk who is an average SF and Hill who could go down at any time. Most smart fans would rank Orlandos frontcourt in the bottom 5-6 in the league.
Stacey Augmon WTF? I'm sorry, but 50 year old Stacy Augmon does not give the Magic 'depth'. The Magic's so called depth is a fabrication. Jameer Nelson is a rookie, you don't know how good he is. Bogans is ok, and as I said above the frontcourt is horrible. The only really good bench player the Magic have are Turk or Hill. The Wiz have Etan Thomas who led the league in rebounds off the bench, was 3rd in the league in blocked shots off the bench, and led the league in dunks off the bench. In other words, he's a top 5 backup C.

This is why I don't respect anything SK says.
He said Garrity sucks... Dude are you out of your mind??
everytime during shootaround garrity shoots like 50 3's and makes 45 of them..freaking ridiculous... he's automatic... when he gets his groove back during games, he'll be helping the magic out in key situations when a 3 is needed...

If the Magic gel early, they will win the division easily.

Yes the Magic did look great in the preseason, especially the last game where they beat the Heat. I really don't care what any one says, but I know people who were at that game and they said both teams played that game like a regular season game and they played to win.
Any way, if the Magic stay healthy and gel they win the division. The Magic have one of the most talented and deepest teams in the NBA. They just need to bring it together.

Since when do preseason stats mean anything??? If Preseason were indicative of how the season is going to go than Detroit wouldn't even be in the playoffs in the East. Let's see how those numbers

No, 82games backs up my facts that Haywood last season was a better player who madea bigger impact on the floor than Cato. Haywood made the defense better and the offense better. Haywood had a +- of over 5 and was the 13th best defensive player in the league. Cato was around a +2-3ish. When you factor in his rebounding numbers (especially offensive) than you have an emerging complete C. Cato is on the downside meanwhile. Haywood did all his damage in 20 minutes a game. With increased minutes his numbers will be improved. Now factor in that he's improved big time over the summer on his offensive game and is playing more focused, and I think he'll easily be much more valuable than Cato in every category including wins. I 'bailed' because arguing Haywood vs Cato is not my cup of tea (although I don't mind). This is my opinions btw, I even said that make a poll on who would the Magic's C posistion or the Wiz's C posistion, nobody has as of yet.
Getting back to the meat of the topic, my overall point which Magic fans want to ignore is that the Wizards are better overall at the C posistion. Etan Thomas was one of the best backup Cs in the league, a better rebounder than any of the Magic's big man, a good shot blocker, he puts the Wiz over to the top. Even that wasn't my original point, you have to go further back to see that the Wizards PF/C combination is just better. Magic fans wanted to break it down into a Cato vs Haywood matchup which is insignificant because Haywood splits his minutes with Etan. Going back further my point was that I didn't think the Magic's bench was 'that solid'. Until Jameer Nelson proves himself in the NBA at the very least. And DEAR GOD, I'm sorry, I didn't know that Pat Garrity had become the man, myth, the legend. Garrity does not make a bench spectacular. Oh but he's an awesome player cause he made 45 out of 50 3s in practice says a Magic fan, well whoopity doo, that just proves everything doesn't it. Garrity is a solid shoo | |
